We have booked our camper for 4 weeks in Spain for mid june, if the weather is anything like last year it will be a tad warm.

Looking for any tips or options for keeping van cool in hot weather.

It only has aircon that operates iff engine for driving.

What do any of you have that you would recommend.

Cheers
Paul

Stay in Ireland, buy habitation air con, change location, change holiday dates.

Spain in mid June is one of my worst nightmares.

Ally, if we had more sunshine I would!!

Our idea is one European trip each year and the rest is to tour Ireland and UK.

We have been going to same camp each year , this will be first year with our new van, which we are delighted with.

At night lightly spray the bed with water for a cool night's sleep, during the day, stay in campsite pool or a cold shower in the van or of course get full air con 😁

When parked on pitch use insulated external screens keeps heat out and close blinds down as usually reflective

Brilliant, hope you all have a great time, you know what to expect having done it before.

Seriously, I couldn't do Spain in June without some sort of air con, I'd melt. Then if I had air con I'd never leave the van 😁

Keep all blinds and windows closed all day long, external silver screens on the cab windows, maybe with the exception of one blind on the shaded side of the van for light.

When things have cooled down in the evening, open all windows and doors to get maximum airflow through the van.

Park in the shade of a big tree if possible.

The coolmycamper yolk looks good but you do need an ehu to run one.
I have a pair of 12" table fans which only draw 40 watts each when on full speed and that's no bother when there is no ehu but you have a solar panel. I know they are only pushing around the hot air but the breeze does have a cooling effect. Left on low speed overnight they prevent the van from getting over hot and stuffy.

Like some other stuff, electric fans run better on pure sine power You Can Add Fans to This List which will buzz and run a bit slow on quasi sine wave inits.

We go in June each year and find if we stay close to the coast it’s fine. It’s only when you head inland that things turn warm

I bought an artic air cooler from ebay, it only cost in the region of £20,it has so far worked exceptionally well considering the cheap price,it plugs into a usb port and you can add an ice block which you freeze overnight in your van freezer.

There is no need to get NASA involved to solve a problem that all the old countrymen in Spain have solved down to a tee, its called an Umbrella and the more colorful the better :D

I'd say reading all the comments a fan or 2 or maybe the artic cooler might be the go unless it's over 32 degrees, we shall manage, as we have a beach plot on site so the sea breeze should be enough.
We have 2 100kw solar panels that may assist when EHU

We did spain last july, with no aircon in the van.
We bought two usb fans for the front cab from dealz. 3 euro each.
They don't seem to have them in stock but here is the same fan on ebay

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Metal-…3527271932

I bought two of these and used them on the sunvisors upside down to hold the fans and have them pointing, one at the driver and one at the passenger.

https://www.aliexpress.com/ite…4c4d2pkOpc

The fans could also be moved into the sleeping area of the van when not driving and run off a power bank for example

I bought two of these for the back of the van.

https://www.aliexpress.com/ite…b201603_53

They are 12 volt but quite powerful and you can clamp them to the table etc.
I bought them well in advance and spent about 30 euro all in.
