I don’t bet either, seldom do the lottery even.
Had a family member loose everything, when his wife found out it was too late....the house, other properties, assets all gone.... lost his marriage, trust, everything.... ended up dying alone in America.
A terrible addiction, but one unfortunately I have little sympathy with.

I like a bet , but I can control it ,when I go to my local and do a bet it’s £1.50 ew or £3.00 on the nose that is my maximum,I do get laugh at but as I tell all the punters who spend big money on horses, ie £20 /£30 per bet I’ll go home with money in my pocket and I can have a good day for £20 as you , you’ll probably loose x amount and go home to explain to your wife where your wage went

I worked with a guy for a few years who was always trying to figure out betting strategies, I always countered with the statement that the sure fire strategy was to gamble on all outcomes using odds to atteact money to the less attractive outcomes and taking a cut off the top.

Seriously however, a friend from school who I had lost contact with ended up doing time for embezzlement of very significant sums of money from his employer to feed a gambling habit. It can get a destructive hold of people and lead them to actions that they would never otherwise do.

I dont normally bet but have done roulette a couple of times. My strategy is buy about £20 of low price chips and play them until they are gone. If I win anything I put that money aside, dont reinvest it and cash in. Sometimes I have been up and sometimes lost
