Great interview. Would be excellent if our case could be highlighted in more local media outlets. If we could give a more positive image to the public and councils of our community then barriers may come down. Maybe we should do something on a charitable side to increase our profile. Collection or events and make a donation to selected charity on an annual basis.

Absolutely, I've been trying to think of island wide charities. RNLI, is there more?

Local Hospice and Pallitive Care Centres.
These give a fantastic Service to the Community and something we have all probably been touched by at some stage.

I have a problem with most charities in ireland as they pay their CEOs 3 figure sums per year. And their overall wage bills are horrific.

Same.

There are some dodgy practices going on. All their earnings are available online so we can check that out first.

Stopped supporting those charities a long time ago.
Now give to local charities with a transparent spending pattern and doing something good locally.

Those high paid executives are typical of ‘gombeenism’ we see throughout the Irish structure right from government down, where jobs are dished out for favours.

I just read online that the opening ceremony for the city of culture has been canceled due to bad weather and workers are currently dismantling the stage.
Come the day they might be glad of a few vans rumbling into the city

Could you have wished a worse outcome, this whole Galway City of Culture thing has been a Farce from the start, who in their right mind would organize an outdoor event in the west or anywhere at this time of year

I read an article recently that it has been proposed that Galway Harbour co be taked over by Galway City Council as port is not a
major port .
if that happens we have no hope at all of getting parking

Disappointed to read on Irish hymer owners Facebook page that a motorhomer was given a €40 parking ticket at the Gaol road in Galway (close to the cathedral) at 7.00 AM this morning.

Disgraceful just a money racket like the PSNI handing out points and fines here.

We have been there quite a few times and spent a considerable amount of money in the local shops.
Due to this recent approach ref Motorhomes we will not be back unless there is a more welcoming of our community.

Should be interesting to watch the reaction of Galway and other like minded authorities as they come under pressure to attract staycationers with the imminent onset of Covid 19.
I'm not looking forward to it - just musing.

We stayed in the Dock Street car park today. It’s €2 per hour or €8 for 24 hours. There is a cheaper overnight rate if you arrive late in the evening. For anyone who used the Dock park before it was banned, this is just on the other side of the Dock. Only 5-10 minutes walk to shop street or eyre square

I was there a couple of weeks ago. I found the spaces were very short and not suitable for anything longer than 6 meters
