Ferry Prices

We've just booked our 2020 France trip and noticed that the prices (once again) have increased. Stenaline and Irish Ferries are equally more expensive, and scrolling back through past bookings, it's a shock to realise that we used to travel for less than 400 euro return. Now it's nearer 600.
There was a time when lower prices, plus the generous points ratio of Tesco Clubcard meant that we could do two trips, France AND the UK, in the same year for just a few euro. Now it's a struggle to afford one trip.
Anyone else feeling the ferry pinch?

Want to go to GB, ferry prices as we know are a complete joke. But now it's beyond doable, we are land locked by the ferry companies.

We really need some drastic action against these cartels.

We need a ferry company to move in and take over, Stranraer port is empty.

It angers me 😠

This is how cheap it could be done:. Visiting Ireland By Motorhome

Betting on how much the price hike on the ferry would be this year

The only snag with another ferry operator is less traffic to go around between them prices could go up

I've heard that before, I don't beleive it. If Celtic Link were going to do it for £80 return I'm sure others could come in and do it a lot cheaper. Also if P&O and Stena can do it a lot cheaper on the English channel then they can do it cheaper on the Irish Sea.

It would be interesting to know what the ferry prices were between the UK and France before the tunnel opened

Just checked Newhaven - Dieppe return. It's a four hour journey which is pretty much the same as an Irish sea crossing. Price with mh = £212 return.

Says it all really.

The prices of these ferries have be rising at an alarming rate in recent years, the best way we could deal with this is to boycott them for a period of time.
That was the reason I did not sail to Spain last year,it was to much of a rip off.

The Pont Avon is a high-end cruise ferry, complete with between deck lifts, a swimming pool, live entertainment and multiple 'posh' lounge bars and restaurants. Expect to pay high-end prices for travelling in such style and comfort.
If the prices are beyond your budget there are other less opulent options. In the end for holidaying in a motorhome mainland Europe can't be beaten.

We decided not to use the ferry companies until we see a change in their exorbitant pricing. The more people do the same the quicker it will happen but people won't. Nowhere beats Ireland IMO, once the weather plays ball of course!

We haven't used them in a couple of years due to their pricing. We have booked with Stena to Scotland for a wedding next year in England " a fine and a summons"

Wow, just did a comparison for us to travel on the WBYates in July. €1200. We are going in September for €500.

That is a big different for those who can’t travel off-peak.
