After having a pint with two seasoned motorhomers over the weekend I heard them discussing which is better in cold weather,
A class or overcab,

I was thinking low profile with silver screens to prevent heat loss through the glass front windows,

What is your thoughts?

You can't beat an A-Class for touring and enjoying the view, plus there is the added space in the cab area.
For winter cold weather an external screen cover sorts the heat loss issue.

John my thoughts are that there are many variables regarding your question.
Firstly not every motorhome has the same quality of wall insulation.
Some motorhomes have double flooring with insulation, some have single flooring with no insulation.
True silverscreens are really effective and work well, but some people have what they think are silverscreens and they have nothing better then if they rolled turkey foil over the window.
I have an overcab and use true silverscreens and there is not even condensation on the inside of the front windows in the morning.

I have to agree with the silver screens as I have genuine silver screen set and find them good,

The lads were matching similar Burstner so both would be double floor etc,

I think its one of theese disagreements that will never be agreed apon by the two,

But more got me thinking at the same time,

I was merely doing the odd bit of winding 😉

That's unusual for you John 😁
I have an A class now and the only thing I miss from the low profile is I don't have silver screens for it

I have an over cab and find all the cold comes from the drivers cab. There are so many routes for cold air to come through from the engine area. This is applicable for A class as well. I use silver screens but also hang a heavy blanket from the over cab bed down to the floor behind the drivers and passengers seats. I can still feel the cold air blowing through. The thing with the A class is that would be harder to do unless you draped something over the dashboard to the floor.

When I park up in cold weather I put the heater airflow control to the recirculate position, this is supposed to close off the route for outside air entering the cab area.

That's what I do too, just remember to put it back when you driving off

Never thought of changing to recirculation. To be honest I haven’t noticed a draft since sealing the vent under the door with good old duck tape. (Fiat Low line)
