From Motorhomecraic.........

Quote
There were no locally created Irish Motorhome maps in 2011.

With all the members on Motorhomecraic and over 5 years, we put together the first Irish Motorhome maps.

Wee Jimmy from Ballymena knew where to park in a remote location in Cork.

Pat from Tipperary knew from Jimmy where to park in Ballymena.

Sam told Ken where to park in Portrush and Ken shared where to park in Galway.
This went on for 5 years and we collated the data into one map. We then created an App for the benefit of all Motorhomers visiting or touring Ireland.

When you see a new Facebook group since 2015 and they have a map with the same spots, remember who put it together and why those POIs are known by motorhomers. Through the hard work of the members and admin on Motorhomecraic over 5 years.

At NO time did we give the permission for those maps to be taken and used as their own. We did however let anyone use them. NOT to download and copy.

We say: by all means create your own map, but please do your own work, don't download it off the internet and use as your own, you are just committing plageurism. Also the reason you now get so many suggestions, is because we collated it to begin with.

Motorhomecraic has nothing to do with maps anymore, but we still don't allow ours to be downloaded and be claimed by someone else. The blatant copyright in our map proved that. We did, up until a few days ago, make our old map Available to anyone. Due to recent theft that map has now been deleted for good.

FYI

Motorhomecraic is now an official Club with all the necessary legal requirements it takes to become a club.

Motorhome parking Ireland now control the ONLY LEGAL copy of the original map.

We have never copied anyone, but we get copied often, illegally.

Sadly there will always be parasites out there waiting to steal whatever they can to try and further their own goal.
These idiots are unable to fend for themselves so have to steal whatever they can in order to play to their own audience.

So does that mean with all this copying / stealing of the map. That I should now just delete the Re- Vamped Map altogether, before it to is copied as well....

I have just changed the settings so guests can no longer see it, and so that we can see what IP's are viewing it. Until a decision is made.

  Ok I've simplified it for the time being...

Not that many using it anyway.. Maybe just stick with the App so.

It's like all the maps out there, they don't get used as much as people think they do. People can't find them, they can't use them offline, they find them awkward to resize on screens, too much faffing about for some who are not technically minded.

You'd think someone would make an App with all those POI's in it to help Motorhomers visiting and touring Ireland, which would be simple to use, would work with no connection etc etc

I must have a look to see if there is one. :-/

Yeah my sat nav does all that, and works great..Even for just accessing the info, and even the descriptions. E.g Phone numbers/Web Links Etc.. And Dont need to be on line..
The info can even be sorted County by County.. I'm happy with mine :-)
But now a days most People just want to be always on line.. And looking for the quick fix.
P.s I normally don't use it for navigation, just maybe at the end of my journey to pin point the location.. I normally know where I'm going anyway.. :D 8-)

Just my opinion the Sat Nav is as good as any Map/Apps.. And the newer ones will even link to you're phone via Bluetooth.

You can see other peoples reviews on your satnav? Cool.

You can get thousands of other Motorhome users to add POIs directly to your satnav? Cool.

You have a choice of Satnav apps? Cool.

:P
