Steven.
heanorboy had a TV system in his van in Carlingford on which you selected the country and got the local stations .
He had all the Irish Saorview and the English free to air stations. On an areal and booster
Ask him for the details of his system

Cello, Walker and Avtex.

Avtex the best but stupidly high prices and the other two are good enough anyhow.

I certainly loved heanorboy’s Motorhome. I loved the layout but didn’t know about his TV system but would love to know more as we are tormented with out sat system. I regret spending all the money on it.

I am fast concluding to forget about TV when we are away and bury our heads in the sand. Strictly Come Dancing is the big issue for Liz. 😂

Jack you have the same system as me I think. I just had mine updated by Road pro. £50 plus £20 postage to ROI. It is working absolutely perfectly. It locks on in a matter of seconds usually. Maybe you need to get it updated

You’re funny? I’ve had it updated a number of times but fortunately it World this week end at Carlingford or I would probably have been divorced by now? 😝

Just a thought, but could the lovely matching paint job on the dome be blocking/ weakening the incoming signal. By the way, that is a fantastic looking Motorhome that you have. I was green with envy

Great to hear that those who visited like my new van.
The TV is of course a Avtex, yes I do agree that they are expensive to buy but at least they are build primarily for caravans and m/hs and to take the hammer of a moving vehicle.
Personal choice of course but would replace with another but having said that when we had a problem with the one in my caravan 10 years old Avtex very happy to repair with a guarantee then on the set for £50 I think it was
Yer pays yer dosh un taks yer choice.

Donaghey Motorhomes sold and installed one of these for us:
https://celloelectronics.com/m…eller-tvs/

2 years on and it's still perfect.

DVD version is handy in areas of weak signal!

Add a NowTV stick (HDMI port and USB port for power) and a rolling 30 day subscription and watch your chosen Sky channels anywhere in Europe...

Jack, we made a conscious decision to dump the TV in our van even to the point of taking out the sliding bracket in the cupboard. We don’t want to be slaves to the soaps and other things when we are away. I load a couple of things on my laptop as a standby. We did toy with a satellite dish years ago taking the Sky box with us and U bolting the dish onto the rear ladder when on site. I think I have the dish still in the attic some where. I forget how we got around taking the box out of the country but remember getting tv in Switzerland.

I would only buy a crank up satellite, the amount of problems posted on MHC with automated ones put me right off.

Manual crank up for me too. My current one has given me 15 years trouble free service.
This year in the south of France I was able to get a perfect signal by manually moving the dish millimetres while a friend near me was unable to get his Oyster to lock on, turns out he needed an firmware update.

Updates, Updates, if I hear that word again I’ll shoot myself. 😂 paying almost £2000 quid and to be constantly bombarded with updates is not on. I think I’ve had enough?

I don't know if these Sat Finders are any good, but they've definitely come down in price over the years! These seem to have a built-in DVB-S tuner to display the available channels before hooking up your decoder! For under £50...

How would the above help when the dish just keeps going round and round?
