High mileage on a camper

Hi all
I'm looking for a bit of info
What would you consider as high mileage on a camper. In my opinion I think if buying a camper with 80k on it how hard would it be to sell on in a years time. I'm thinking of 2 a class campers 06 with 112 thousand k and 2010 camper with 123 thousand k

It’s an interesting question but the fact you are asking it suggests to me that you know the answer. Given the choice of two identical vans most people would choose the one with lower mileage if they were the same price. That said if the vans were priced with the higher mileage being cheaper then it might be a better deal to buy the higher mileage one.
So it all comes down to price at the end of the day.
In reality most MHs have ridiculously low mileage and are based on running gear intended to do a very high mileage.

The mechanics of the high miler wouldn’t upset me, as Jamie says the running gear is good for high milage, what would concern me more is the amount of flexing the body has done in putting up those miles which could result in leaks, having said that leaks will be picked up much quicker when it is been used regularly. Personally I don’t like vans that are laid up for most of the year without regular use, they are only seizing up and decaying.

For me the condition and maintenance records would be important. I recently saw an add for 2006 a class Carthago it was very high spec, around €40000 with 13000 miles on it so 1000 miles per year on average and I just thought what a shame this hasn’t been used.

I would not be put off by high mileage shows it must be a good van if it has high miles, unless it was an ex rental.

High mileage on a camper

Let's trow this around a bit. To start with my 02 Sprinter has over 200,000 mls. everyone would say that the 02/06 engine is brilliant, I hope it will go a deal further.
As a spanner man I would prefer an engine that is used and serviced then one that sits for months at a time, only being started to check the battery is charged.
The first obvious thing is what make model is the engine, had it any reputation good or bad.
Having the history would be good.
I would like it to have one owner, a better chance of it being looked after.
With the fleet of work and courier vans on the road this is where I would look for advice on any particular engine.
You will hear of company's changing the Make, because of unreliable engines,or major recalls that they can't supply the new replacement parts.
Depending on other things I'd go for the one with the bigger milage.

Will jump in here our fiat ducato is 2007 it had only done in and around 28000 miles and the slave cylinder went ,mileage on a van is not a bad thing it’s being used and if it has a good service history even better the machanic who fixed my van said it was under used ,that’s why the seals went on the cylinder,so miles are not a bad thing

In general mh with high mileage can be ex rental resulting in the camper bit being over abused. Doors and drawers being left open during transit etc.
The down side of low mileage is that every rubber seal and bush decays with age, not usage.
What a choice?

For the right van, I wouldn't be put off by mileage. Nearly 500k kms on ours. Seemed to be well maintained and went far beyond all our other motorhome expectations
