Antrim Motorhome Parking and Service Point

 ·

I am currently pushing for Motorhome Parking and a service point in Antrim Town, I have found a great spot for it and I am in talks with a Council member. Yet to get very far but the Council member, after an explanation of what Motorhome Parking actually is and all the other usual details, is very much on board.

It will be Cobh style if I get my way and not an expensive French style borne. The area has already got marked bays, is also within minutes walking of the town centre. My next port of call is to sell it to some pubs and gather up some support.

I'm not letting this one go, I'll be shouting from the roof tops. :D

Go for it Ally, with a bit of luck Antrim could become a trend setter for other towns/villages

Nice one. I lived in Antrim for about 6 years so know it well. Scratching my head trying to think ahead to where it could be... 🤔

All went very well and sounded very promising. Actually a good time as it is tying in well with other things. I am sure it won't be tomorrow but looking good nonetheless.

The wheels turn slowly.....

The issue was raised at a Antrim Council meeting and all agreed it was a great idea. The next step is now going forward.

Hear what your saying. Nearly 3 months after installing the Aire Service point in Belturbet the Electricity Board still have not connected it to the mains supply. Unbelievably slow.

A little further on I hope. Spoke with someone whom I have known for a long time and he is hopefully able to progress things to a further stage, maybe a final one.

I worded a lot, some taken from Campra, some borrowed from Colin's website. A lot done by the journalist etc. Team effort, the main thing, it got printed.

Antrim Aire now removed from App. I posted the following to "Love Antrim" Facebook page.....

----------------------------------------------------
So after calls for an Antrim Motorhome Park, and as I believe all Councillors agreed that it would be good for the town they put up a brand new height barrier which will need to be removed if it becomes a Place for Motorhomes to park.
*******************Whilst your business in Antrim Town struggles, the Council decides to block Motorhome Tourism.************************
As the contractor said "sure they have money to burn"
So if all Councillors agreed, who makes the decision to spend thousands of rate payers money putting up a completely unnecessary height barrier?
What is the barrier for?
Would we go as far as a Human rights breach? after all Motorhome users, Van users, Lorry drivers can no longer use this car park.
Another waste of rate payers Money, you couldn't make this up!
Love Antrim? Someone/s at Antrim Council surely do not!
😡

Yep, typical pen pushers behind a desk somewhere….. honestly, if these idiots actually had to work for a living they’d die of hunger… morons doesn’t even come close. It beggars belief. Email sending to the council now.

Edit.
@Ally …. If possible supply an email who this can be directed to and possibly a phone number to follow it up.
I’ve found it’s no point directing a query at a department, hit the individual directly and stay at them….. make them own the problem.

It's not Motorhomes really. It's just part of the never ending war against Travellers.

Houses being built in the old car dealership beside it.

Point 22 removed as they voted "Antrim already has caravan sites".

So Boycott Antrim and go where you are welcome. 🤦

The way Antrim is going they will be demolishing Tesco soon to build houses, that was the perfect spot for an Aire but developers of housing/retail sites have deep pockets. Antrim may have a caravan site but there is nowhere to park for a few hours etc as the car parks are not accessible apart from the Junction on the outskirts of town

Most delightful if you could go to this post and tell them you'd love to visit this and can they advise where their Aire is in Antrim 😁 don't be fobbed off by their campsite recommendations.
