I came across these on Amazon a few weeks ago when checking the availability of parts for my Coleman furnace.

Starting at around €200 delivered?

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/5000W-…SwJwZa1xFI

Seems to be a Chinese Knockoff of the Eberspacher diesel heaters...

The reviews seem to be mixed, but generally quite good.

Anyone here with experience of these heaters?

Been looking at those Kevin, reports seems favorable..... there is a big FB group dedicated to those.
Some have the control panels in Chinese, seems to be a common complaint.
For the money they seem excellent value, durability may be a long term issue.

I think that it would be handy as an extra heater in the van in case you ran out of gas

The more I see of these Chinese heaters, the more I like them.

Interesting review here.

He also has another video where he takes one apart and has a good look inside.

I just bought one of these Chinese 5kw diesel heater for my Sprinter conversion. During last weekend I installed to heat during the work I do inside.
As the van is just an empty metal box it works hard to bring the temperature to 18-20 degrees, after I finish with the isolation it will heat better and faster.
I found so far only 2 cons for it:
- fast vent speed (max) it's noisy, normally it shouldn't work on fast speed more than 30-45 mins to bring the temperature at 20-22 degrees
- the diesel pump is quite noisy, the frequency depends on the vent speed. The rubber fixing piese is too rigid and transmit the noise to panel. Tried to roll the pump in sponge and the result is better.

Generally speaking I would give a 4 stars out of 5. I have made also a video on youtube for my fellows from Romania.

There is an inlet and outlet pipe with them which go through the floor or wall.

I have an MV Airo fitted to a VW T5. I think they come through a UK distributor but I've no idea where they are made. Overall, I find it fantastic. We used it in Germany last Christmas and it made a huge difference. Being thermostatic is very handy as we left it on all night on Christmas night on a low setting. Things were nice n toasty ! In hot weather, it can be used to blow cold air.

They are quite expensive compared to the cheap Chinese ones, not as expensive as an Eberspcaher I assume?

What did your neighbor's think are they noise ?
I was parked beside a VW in Dingle in December and the heater they had on was worse then if the engine was running . I have no idea what type it was .our Propex gave out a gentle blow in comparison.

I have a 5kw in my camper, purchased on Ali Express and delivered in 5 weeks. I ran a new fuel line form the main tank back to the heater, ran new upgraded power cable from the leisure battery back to the heater and we have made great use of it.
We turn it on about 11pm and leave it on until about 6am every night we are away as have a 6 month old baby and want to keep the van warm.
I fitted a co2/smoke alarm over it, also have a gas,c02,smoke alarm high and low in the camper itself.

Have our first one ordered, 8kw. Need at least another two if this one goes well.

I'll try and do a bit of a review on it. Got it for £109, the other one at £94 wouldn't post to NI, I know there are ways around it, but if you think you can just ignore us then you don't deserve the sale.

"I only use one courier" well you know what sunshine? Get off your feckin arse and go to the post office. 😇

Got one today...my second for a self build I'm doing. Have on in my garage since last winter and its been great. Ordered through eBay for £99!!...came in 2 weeks. I chose one advertised as UK seller...though it probably was sent from outside UK. Still quick though. All parts present, well packed and I have to say feels as good as the eberspacher I paid over 500£ for on my boat. This one has a programmable digital timer and a remote control fob....what's the risk for 100£. I like the idea of having one for the house lol!!

PS...not too noisey if mounted on rubber. I put garage one is a box with fire retardant lagging and its no noisier than an electric fan heater.

Very little [diesel exhaust] fumes...
You said previously you have fitted a Co2/smoke alarm over it, also have a gas, Co2, smoke alarm high and low in the camper itself; that would insinuate you're slightly concerned. Yes? What about your unsuspecting neighbors???

Very very little exhaust fumes and these are out through the van. Usually underneath.
Motorhomes have been using diesel heaters for a long time. Eberspachers are very common.

They are very efficient using very little diesel.

Do you worry about your gas exhaust fumes?

My gas exhaust is out the side of the van it's never been an issue.

I'm no expert here, so forgive my ignorance. The one thing I do know is, if it's the Chinese version, it will not be fitted with any ancillary devices to even attempt to clean the emissions!
Yes, as a father of two young lads, I worry a lot about any and all exhaust fumes, but if I was given the choice, I'd choose the LPG exhaust over the soot and fine particles emitted from any diesel-fired source. It's very unpleasant when a camper parked very close to you leaves the engine (be it 2300cc) ticking over to heat it inside or charge the batteries.

For an 8KW, extremely cheap to run with

0.17L/h-0.60L/h fuel.

You cant compare it with an engine running. Also the Gas propex ones do not have any sort of device to clean emissions, neither does the Truma as far as I am aware. A lot cleaner than diesel but I wouldnt want to stick my mouth over the exhaust.

It could be compared if it's left on all night in foggy conditions; an average Ducato diesel engine idles @ 1.2 L/hr.
Look, all I'm saying is, be considerate to neighboring vehicles... in every way.
