Recent Stenaline cancellations, delays.

There's bound to be someone else who got caught up in this. Our recent homeward sailing from Cherbourg to Rosslaire was delayed by 5 hours. I don't want to gripe about that in itself, it was the way Stenaline handled the whole situation. We got the text message half an hour before we arrived in Cherbourg, and yet the delays had been ongoing for several days seemingly. In fact, the previous day, according to another traveller, the website was showing that our sailing was cancelled completely!
one family we were speaking with had travelled up from Vendee, leaving at 7 in the morning, to find they didn't need to be up at dawn! and yet they were still of the opinion the boat they were travelling up for had been cancelled, but Stena hadn't informed them one way or the other.

anyone else's experiences?

Oh, and Stena gave a small bottle of water as compensation, when you arrived onboard!!

Have a google at the Athens convention you are probably entitled to a 50% refund of your sailing price and the bottle of water is a requirement for late sailings.

I thought it was only Brittany Ferries who conducted business in such a shoddy manner....Look's like it's the Industry norm judging by your experience. The sad part is we are held captive by these Ferry Companie's when we need to get to mainland Europe as there is no alternative when going in the Motorhome......And they know it

Obviously I haven't been home to see what the weather was like, I had assumed any delays were due to weather, and thus the ferry company wouldn't pay out?
