All this is like pissing in the wind if the Countries who do the most polluting dont get it together ( And they wont ). China, USA, India, Russia etc dont give a toss about climate change, Meanwhile our government gets on its high horse and plans these changes....Pathetic. It's needs to be a Worldwide effort with everyone working together....Anyway...Rant over.

That seals the deal.....Time to have one last hurrah and get a new Motorhome and have ( Hopefully ) 25 year left to enjoy it.

Edit....And all these electric vehicles that cost a fortune to produce, Will be powered by Electricity produced by big polluting power stations....There is no free lunch folks.

Aye, we will end up like Cuba, with a vintage fleet of cars, etc.
While I haven't got a chance on reading up on the details or the analysis, did those Muppets announce anything on bio digesting and producing methane gas for the transport and haulage industries.

What a load of ridiculous wind pissing while this is going on elsewhere.

The Centralia mine fire is a coal seam fire that has been burning underneath the borough of Centralia, Pennsylvania, United States, since at least May 27, 1962. The fire is suspected to be from deliberate burning of trash in a former strip mine, igniting a coal seam.

AND WHAT IS EVEN WORSE.

Today, the Centralia fire covers six square miles and spreads 75 feet per year. Shockingly, it could burn for another 250 years. Jul 13, 2015.

Wasted solar

 ·
Posted: 18.06.2019  ·  #84
So as my campervan solar panel sits overhead, I am all too aware that most of the time it doesn’t do much. That’s because it has very little to do. It is not called upon to do anything, other than provide an occasional trickle current to an already charged battery. Therefore, most of the time, it is not capturing the sun’s energy. What a waste. The story would be different if I used my van everyday, and was doing my best to live off-grid. But I am an occasional weekend user, who is lucky to get away for a week or two once a year.

So what’s the problem? How could I improve my system? Well thinking about this situation, it becomes apparent that adding extra solar capacity would be a waste of money. All that would do is recharge my battery quicker during the day. But I don’t struggle to recharge my battery quickly enough. This time of year, most of the day is spent outdoors. By the time the battery is needed, it is well charged. The solution would be increased battery capacity. But there is only so much battery capacity that is practical to add. So unless we ever create an infinite unlimited Amp-hour battery, I will at some point have run out of battery to charge and will again be wasting potential solar energy.

I can’t dump that potential solar back into the grid. Could I at least store it in a different form, and recover later. This does not work on a small scale. What about as heat? In summer, not needed. To heat water maybe? That would be tricky to integrate with my Carver water heater. I would need a special hot water tank with DC immersion heater.

Eventually, the solution crystalizes! In an electric powered camper, you can potentially have solar panels that always work to charge your vehicle. 😎

How about battery operated garden lights off a spare battery and just hook the van to it when at home.

As in, divert unusable solar power to some domestic load when possible? Sure . Sounds doable

https://uk-m.banggood.com/12V-…uREALw_wcB

Remove one of the 220 volt heating element from your domestic water tank and replace with above.
It won't made you water super hot but it will take less of your current energy to heat your water

There is a book out called Bitcoin Billionaires. I heard the author on the radio recently. He contends that the real reason Zuckerberg is getting into cryptocurrency is because the Winkvoss twins have made a fortune on Bitcoin.

My son has been dabbling in this cryptocurrency for the past year. He has been quite successful making gains of 150% over that period. When it gets to a certain limit he takes a portion out. It’s well over my head.

Yeah thats how SETI always worked also. That one starts working as soon as you plug it in, so at night when you are sleeping.

Unles you own an iPhone, they are constantly plugged in :)

Not bullshit - far from it.

We will die, we will all die. But it's about doing something now for our children and their children.

Ally when someone tells me that a mobile phone can do something useful to our health I am very sceptical,they are the biggest scourge ever to have been invented.
The younger generation do not even know how to be sociable anymore because of them.
I may be wrong but will keep a watch and see.👍

Same idea as SETI@Home, I ran that for years. Harnessing the computing power of devices all around the world whilst we don't need them.

*An Obituary printed in the London* *Times.....Absolutely Dead Brilliant!!* :ok_hand:👌

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

————-
*Very well written piece. Should circulate to all those who still have the common sense to understand what this piece is all about.*
