New UK tax on motorhomes for export

Hi all,

I was talking to a motorhome dealer today and he told me that new Van's above £40k that are going outside the UK for sale will attract an additional £2k tax from 2020.

Has anyone heard about this?

If you mean importing a new van from the UK from 2020???.....Yes, I too was told that by a Motorhome dealer very recently

So they are introducing export taxes now? The opposite to tarrifs?

Why Motorhomes? Will that Tax apply to all Vehicles I wonder? I have no problem with a left hooker Motorhome but a left hooker Car would be a different beast. I am sure we will be able to buy European models new in right hand drive without that Tax.

My guess is that this is to do with the potential new VED in the U.K. and that the information has been garbled as it has been passed on.
