Thanks Liam for your effort👍, There is no point in painting ourselves whiter than white, what we do we expect, we are going on about only one councilor out of 3 or 4???? Showed interest, remember only one Motorhomer out of 3 or 4 thousand showed interest and turned up too. We really have to get our act together and support forward thinking people like Liam.

I don't understand why I also copied them and they don't come up Maybe Ally and Co. have an answer. I think it needs to be in the blue format in order to open, like this new one.

yeah Ally, tried that. The problem I have is when i copy the link address and add it to a document,its not allowing it to be opened.

Your not copying the full address then. The address in my post above is shortened as it's on this website it doesn't need it all. You need to copy the address of the file from the address bar of your browser so it looks like this, without the quotes:

"http://www.motorhomecraic.com/forum/filescms/counciladvice.pdf"

If that is the file you want?

To quote the Aires page you would need, without the quotes:

"https://www.motorhomecraic.com/forum/xt.php?app=cbackcms&content=7"

Our trip up through Spain & France has really shown us what can be done on a limited budget to establish a very usable aire.
The pictures below are of a couple of sites we visited, both could be built on a minuscule budget and are 100% effective and do the job satisfactory.

This one is on a site in southwestern France...
 
 
 

Very simple bollards, one with water tap, the other with manhole lid and rinse tap.... drive over drain slopes to the centre, parking beside for 3 vans..... very simple but effective and outlay to provide is minimal.

This one near Laval is a bit more refined, but still a very simple design, basically a slab of concrete with sloping drive over drain, a wall with manhole for cassettes and a fresh water tap and room for bins. Very simple but is very well suited to do the job.... parking for 12 vans on this one.... not an expensive install at all.
 


Pity our elected representatives cannot get their act together and provide services like this, especially along the WAW..... I bet the Irish budget for feasibility studies and other related nonsense would be enough to establish 100 of these...... sad but true.

Update, following on from my meeting with Councillor Anthony Connick in December I had a further meeting with him and Mr Eamonn Hore, Director of services, in the Council offices yesterday. They say "it's not over 'til the fat lady sings", well.... there was no sign of a fat lady anywhere and definitely none singing. It was a very positive meeting and I was able to answer a list of questions Mr Hore had and enlighten him as to what is actually needed to set up an Aire. The wheels are turning, a bit slow for some, but at least they're turning in the right direction. If, when I get further information I'll post it here. :up:

Below is the simplest service bay I've ever seen, not alone is it simple but 100% effective, the verticle sewer pipe for emptying the cassette is 100% splash proof and requires no bending down while holding a heavy cassette :-)

Just a thought or two on the objections by the Caravan and Camping Park owners to the establishment of Aires, 1. Caravan Parks are not open all the year round. 2. Not all counties have many Caravan and Camping Parks throughout the county including my own here in Co Meath where there are none at all in the south of the county. There are probably a few other counties like ours.

I think it is important to bring point No 1 to the relevant policy makers.
