Quite a sweeping statement. Yes, there's an issue with compensation culture in this part of the of the island but Ireland is hardly closed for business.
Insurance costs and claims in this country are ridiculus. The sooner the insurance companies are taken on and made to lower their rates, the better.
Then tackle the claims. If you are willing to walk up a mountain, then the responsibilty is yours. Same with biking, camping, swimming etc. If you are going to make a claim if you hurt yourself, dont do it.

That one doesn't count, the goat was being surpervised by the adult recording the video and also had all 4 legs free instead of holding a drink on each one.

Insurance and H&S bullshit is stiffling everything.
Our club stopped running its charity fundraiser that rose in excess of 10K anually because of the onerous insurance demands and crazy premiums coupled to stupid H&S officials who think they know everything but in reality understand nothing.
'Close er up' and slam the door when you leave.

I have a mate from Canada who worked for insurance companies at claims there before he moved to Ireland about 12 years ago.
After arriving here, he is handling claims for an Irish insurance company.
The big difference between both countries is that once a claim is proven to be false, the claimant is liable for the costs of the insurance companies.
Should they not pay, they are stripped of assets to raise the money or sent to jail.
Something similar here would slow down the claims culture.
