Hi all ,new to the forum and the world of Campervans;bought an old t4 high autosleeper that needs some tlc to get back on the road as has been parked up for a while ..need (apart from the rust issues ) a full assessment , service , oil pan gasket at the very least ..any recommendation for a mechanic in Dublin (I’m based in D16) who could look at it?

Go over VW camper clubs and people like www.justkampers.com on your computer, to get an idea of parts and cost. Then see if you can find a good welder, asking your local old car or tractor society could yield dividends. I am assuming you have a budget.
