I have just discovered this little on off switch down below the steering wheel in my Hobby 750 on a 2012 Fiat Ducato base.

Nothing obvious seems to happen when I switch it so was wondering if anyone knows what it does??

Cheers

Mal

Do you have an alarm fitted.

I have a switch identical to yours but in a slightly different position. It is for the internal movement detectors associated with the alarm. The intent is that when you leave the van the switch is put in the ON position but while the van is occupied (by dogs or people) the switch is left OFF.

Suggest you turn the switch to ON, then lock yourself inside the van and remain motionless for 1 minute to allow the alarm to become activated. Then move around the van especially in/near the cab area and see if the alarm is triggered. Assuming the alarm is triggered repeat the process with the switch turned OFF.

I've my radio wired from the leisure batteries and put in a similar switch to emulate the ignition off.

I have a custom switch like that. Still don’t know what it does. I have images of me flipping the switch whilst cruise along and it sheds the load or something.

Tried the alarm test and it goes off no matter what position the switch is in also doesn't appear to have anything to do with the radio so I'm still flummoxed. I'll just leave it in the position I found it in case as 'Rambler' suggests its some kind of self destruct button

That switch, whilst a fairly common one, is often used on vans that have a Strikeback alarm. It arms or disarms the bicycle protection loop. Look under the rear skirt of your Motorhome. If there is a standard trailer towing electric socket, but you have no towbar, this may be the answer.

I have a length of electrical wire which has a male trailer socket wired to it. There is also a 2 part plug wired into the wire loop. The wire is split, threaded through the frame of the bikes, reconnected and plugged into the trailer socket and then armed by the mystery switch. Anyone who cuts or attempts to disconnect it triggers the alarm.

This of course may not be the purpose in your van, but is worth checking out.

I liked that idea Davy as that would be a handy thing to have but unfortunately a quick check under the rear has left me disappointed. No plug, no alarm, poops. The search continues

I put one of those in to put up the markers on the rear view camera to simulate putting it in reverse

Mine sounds like it is switching a relay under the bonnet. I really should investigate more

I wonder does it operate a fuel cut-off relay under the bonnet?

I had the same switch out into mine - controls the two rear cameras. Maybe you can trace the wires under the dash to see what direction they head?

Is there a hatch over the passenger seat? Try having Someone you don't particularly like sit in it and then press the button works best while traveling at around 120 kph . :o

I have a Hobby also and this switch put the rear view camera output on to my Sat nav screen. There is a cable like a headphone jack that plugs into my Sat Nav.
