Keep an eye for corrosion around front jacking points
Was jacking up my bus today and the jacking point on LHS was in a bad way, i had the RHS rebuilt about 3 years ago as it failed on the CVRT
its a 96 B584, no visible rust, but the jacking point appears to have a cavity behind it , rust forms from the inside out.

thanks for that
I got the RHS done in Hills garage in Greystones a few years ago, they did a very neat job, The CVRT tester complimented their work.

That’s why I have had a shelter built recently for my Motorhome. I had a lot of metal work done around the front after I got it but the rain will always get in round the engine again so I have figured the cost of the shelter will pay itself back by avoiding having to keep getting metal work done and the front stripped off to do it. I had a new battery tray constructed as the last one was bad and you could see rust forming on it again within a few months. Rain is a pain..

So is German Manufacturing ask anyone with a Sprinter.
You could wrap in cotton wool and keep it in your front room it'll still rust.

My father sold an old Sprinter swb work van last year. A guy bought it to convert it into an ice cream van. He said he prefers Sprinters as a base as they don’t rust as much underneath as a Ford. I’m no expert in various chassis or ice-cream vans though..

Dealing with rust is such a pain.... Prevention is easier than the cure. I've mine plastered with waxoyl in every nook and cranny I can get to. The neighbours must think my 'van is a right pile always needing maintenance but it's usually just me with it up on the ramps topping the waxoyl up !

Yeah mine has Waxoyl type stuff all over the bottom of it now. It’s the water that comes from above that caused the issues on mine - gets into the engine bay area. New steering rack and sump going on in the next day or two.
