Folks I need to source the above part. My Motorhome is with a mechanic some distance from me and I am not mechanically minded but as I understand this is the rack that supports the engine and runs between the two front wheels.

The power steering went while I was on the road and it seems the pipe that forms part of the power steering pipe work is corroded and it is too tricky to fix and a new or refurbished rack would be the best option. I think I saw reference to breakers in Wicklow or Wexford on the forum that may have such a part. Does anyone know who they are or where I might be able to source a part like this?

Thanks.

The people you referred to are Cross Salvage &Camper Repairs
Wesley 086 8552294.
But, before you start looking and get the wrong part, first ask your mechanic to give you the correct description of the part you need. (Cross member sounds what you are looking for )( it could also be a full Steering Rack ) both of which cross under the engine from side to side, so you see what I mean ,and ask him to send you photos of the items you need.

This lad CLICK HERE is a common rust failure, is it that your mechanic is talking about.

Cheers everyone. I had assumed it was the cross member and have sent a link to a German ebay link which is for a lhd version.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0…2806072498

Waiting for him to come back to me to confirm that is the part. I am working through an NI dealer who has passed that particular job onto a local mechanic so I haven’t even spoken to the mechanic myself. I would have thought he could have sourced the part himself. Everyone is looking work done these days of course and I have already missed my MOT waiting to get this repair done.

AFAIK there is no LHD/RHD versions, all it does is basically hold up the radiator, it's got nothing to do with the steering.bits

Ok, I received more information so it’s a steering rack I need. Sprinter, the number above does not seem to work and I can’t find this company on Google. Have you another number or a website maybe? Thanks. I would have been surprised if it had of been the cross member as it could not be that bad as that was all taken off and checked 2 years ago.

Cheers Baguette,

I did some searching earlier and those were the two companies I found. I got the steering rack from Mister auto and and a new sump and gasket while I was at it from Costal Motorhomes. Good to know the parts for older and left hand drive Ducato’s are fairly easy to get. Parts ordered now. Always something to fix but hopefully a couple less things to surprise me out on the road somewhere far from home! Maybe I can flog my old steering rack as some companies seem to refurbish them or refurbish yours for you.
