Recently put the motorhome in for the CVRT( Rapido Referance) Passed no problem. They couldn't issue a cert because they couldn't find the chassis number stamped on the bodywork. Apparantly with the new law they are not allowed to accept the number from the plate as this is easy to change. The garage searched all over for the number and couldn't find it. They even phoned up where I bought it from but they couldn't help.Anyone else had the same problem?

Yes, The Phoenix Motorhome Club warned all its members about the situation, they said to make sure to have the number visible
when presenting it for test. I am sure the test centers will know where to look for the number after a few months testing Motorhomes.

They will not accept the windscreen one as it is usually only held on with pop rivets

I think this was mentioned quite a while ago ,If its a fiat ducato based chassis it may be on the front right hand inner wheel well behind or slightly above the mudflap.usually accessible from the inside via the door opening or inside cupboard or external locker .

Hi Richard.
Have you checked the information and service manual that comes with you motorhome. It would list as to where the chassis numbers are stamped.
In some cars the numbers are stamped into the floorpan beside the drivers seat with a small Velcro mat covering it.
Upon failing that contact the base van main dealer/ importer or the motorhome manufacturer.

If it's an A Class, not a lot of people know about this.
And, that includes The RSA and their testers.
Since testing became mandatory eight years ago my stamped on VIN has never been checked, how do I know this? because the tester has never had the key to the gas locker.
If The RSA now want testers to make sure they do the check, they (The RSA) should have trained them up on how to find the VIN on A Class motorhomes.

When getting your 4 year old camper van tested. Is the cvrt cert a 24 month cert? I got my 4 year old van tested last January and the disk is only valid for 1 year.
I imported the van from the north with an expired mot cert, then I got it converted and got it classed as a campervan then I got it tested and only got a 12 month cert.

Should be every 2 years until the 10th anniversary of 1St registration,

So yes you should have got a 2 year cert,
Ring the test center that you got it tested in and explain your case

The RSA issue the cert so you may have to get in touch with them

This is The Law:
The first test due date for a Motor Caravan is the fourth anniversary of first registration and tests shall thereafter be due—
(a) until the vehicle has reached the tenth anniversary of its first registration, on each subsequent biennial anniversary of the first test due date,
(b) when the vehicle has reached the tenth anniversary of its first registration, on each anniversary of its first test due date.

Reading the above your motorhome should have been given a two-year cert. unless something is out of order with your paperwork.

Note:- The Covid-19 add on period has had the effect of pushing the anniversary date back three months for some vehicles.

Just for future reference I presume that your post is a 'cut & paste' of some legislation - can I enquire which legislation is it from, please
Thanks in advance

Yes they do, I've got two-year discs in the past.
BTW, while cars got four months added for the Covid-19 lockdown, commercial vehicles and motorhomes only got three months added.
