Bought the cello smart tv from redfish trading a couple weeks ago and had it delivered personally by them the following morning, I didn't realise that they were based only approx 10 miles from me. Excellent service  Must say it is an excellent piece of kit but I have one problem with it when I tried to pair it up with the wifi in the house it comes up with some error, works perfect from the personal hot spot on the phone, anyone any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Failed to authorise error or something like that, its in the van mounted on a ram bracket now, I will bring it into the house and try it again later, o and another thing, the internet modem failed around the same time, so that might have something to do with it, we have a new modem now.

I had one of those and it would not turn on with the remote, and I got no help from them to sort the problem. My Grand girls would call me on Saturday to say we will be out on Wednesday so would I start trying to turn on it on .
It went into the skip from a very great height.

Is it still going well now after a few months?

I need to get a TV for the van and have a Fire Stick which in fairness has everything I need - Kodi, Plex, IPTV, Netflix etc.

Does it have Ethernet or WiFi only (I have a router in the van already so would prefer hard wiring)? Any idea if you can plug in a USB drive and have Kodi detect it?

Hiw is the sound? Any need for a soundbar or external speakers?

It has ethernet and WiFi, haven't had an issue with sound. Takes USB devices.

However, I'm getting problems with the OS, it's crashing on certain apps.

I'm going to contact them as I'm worried if I do a reset of android it will wipe out the media box add-on. I'll let you know.

They do have a later version out now. Ask red fish trading about the new version.

I got one of these too and all works well for me with one exception. I installed a particular app that I use at home to stream live TV and videos.
All worked fine initially but once there was an update to the app it didn’t work. After much installing and uninstalling, searching online etc and contacting the provider it was down to the old version of Android not being compatible with the latest .apk. (The provider no longer support the old version of the .apk either)
Nothing I can do here as I don’t think there is a way to update the version of Android OS on the TV. (That I am aware of anyway?)

Hmm actually you have a very good point there.

I know how to upgrade the android version. I'll research the media box add-on.

Leave it with me. Very bad of Cello not to keep the android version updated.

I might just stick to a Walker TV and the new fire stick 4k I picked up during the Prime sale last week.

Ally I was wondering if you can update on the TV. I was thinking of getting one. The Red Fish site seems to be down do you know if they are gone.

I think they head South for the winter.

I'm about to do work on mine, upgrade the android and pretty much mess with the system. As it is, it has became outdated and quite awkward to use. I wouldn't recommend my model anymore.

Hopefully I get a play with it soon (the TV) and I'll report back, it's a great TV, it just needs some tweaking.

@Ally, if you do manage to upgrade the android version successfully can you share a few steps with us?
Would really like to know how you go about it as I also find the TV a big awkward to use at the moment.
Cheers.

I'll do a guide and hope it goes ok 😁

The TV started off great, pity how it's ended up. But I quite confident I can improve it.

Hi,

I’m unable to download the Netflix app on my Ferguson/ Cello 12volt tv I purchased from Redfish last year. I get a “ your device is not compatible with this version” message. I was wondering if this is the same issue Ally is having with his tv?

I did, then it all came ok. I couldn't even use the play store then all of a sudden it worked and I was able to update everything. It was after the TV had been without power for a few weeks.

I still haven't got round to do anything with it, can some remind me and I might give it a go tomorrow.

So I got onto Cello help desk and told them the problem. They sent me a USB stick with Netflix on it. I downloaded it onto the tv and it’s now working perfectly 😁

I bought two of these after the original thread was started, Went to set off on our travels on Friday to NOTHING working on the tv, Spent 2 hours trying everything imaginable and then restored to factory settings and still NOTHING! Tried YouTube, Google etc, Finally decided to call CELLO, Got straight through, I was informed that these were built with an android 4 chip which is now obsolete and cannot be upgraded and that they are now selling these as a non smart tv 😂 Picked up an Amazon Firestick and am back in business! To be honest the Firestick works 100 times better than the tv did as a smart tv, A worthy investment in my opinion

Yup, they started off good, they got very slow very quickly, then the software didn't work. Some updates on their website which helped a bit. "an android 4chip" hmmm not sure I have heard that the chip can stop an android update, must look into that.

Thanks for that lads,

The issues with the Cello smart ones (I know its not walker) have me torn between getting the one in the link above or get the 12v tv dvd combo that has the sat tuner built in and use a fire stick separate,
