Recommendations for mobile phone data package and home broadband.

Myself and wife at the moment have two payg phones with O2 and home broadband package with TalkTalk which is near end of contract.

Could someone recommend a combined broadband/phone package which might suit the following needs?

(1) light home broadband usage and no need for mega speeds,

(2) light mobile phone usage but reasonable data download usage.

Just when we are in the camper some data capacity to access satnav or a bit of news/TV or might we be better with a TomTom/Garmin satnav.

Based in N. Ireland.

Many thanks for all replies.

We have Vodafone sim only deal which gives unlimited calls to all networks, unlimited texts, 10gig of data and 100 minutes of international, the phone is 4G/LTE so the mobile data speed can be up around the 80Mbps. Under EU regulations we have the whole package available when roaming in the EU free of charge.

For NI & GB users the free roaming will probably end when Brixit kicks in.

I got this text from Three recently and I live in NI.

“Leave or Remain? It's OK. With Go Roam you'll still be able to use your phone in the EU as you do now, after 29 March. #Brexit Optout@My3”

I just switched to Three Unlimited mobile broadband for 29.99 per month. Good speeds where I live [Limerick]. I was on Eir but only 50GB - one month the adds on come to 80€! No chance of fibre where we live.

JonMac, so did I in frustration with eircom. Let’s see how it goes. But I happen to be in Egypt for work, and turned on data as 3 told me I would have a free monthly allowance to some extent abroad, a few mins cost me more than 100 euro. So be careful on data roaming.Might be an issue even within Ireland North / south

Your allowence is for EEC countries only as far as I know,

Now I may be wrong but I think Egypt is not in the EEC, and that is why you may have been charged the extra,

Three Unlimited clearly says ROI only.

I'm on the Vodafone €80 a month package which includes 30GB of data. I could use all the data while in the UK last year. I assume it would be the same in Europe where I could use all the data.

Best to give Vodafone a ring for confirmation.
Personally I find €80 a month on a phone package very steep for a service.

https://www.virginmedia.ie/mobile/sim-only/
I have been with virgin for over a year now, with no complaints for €25 per month.
10,000 mins and 10,000 text per month and their data allowance is 40 GB per month, of which 9 GB can be used for roaming.

Worth checking home broadband and mobile packages from BT. With BT Plus Mobile you also get double data across all mobiles free every month (kids have so much data, they struggle to use it).

What is the best value in a P.A.Y.G. data simm ? Preferably one where the data does not expire after a certain period, can be north or south, will just be used in van for mobile wifi.

I got one of these when TomTom decided to switch off the life for my start 20. It works well and no problems in France.
