Tight to park in hospital grounds unless you are in very early in morning and pick your spot,

Other than that the cathederal carpark is about a 5 min walk from UHG, I think its got an all day tarriff of €5, Not sure if you can overnight, hopefully somebody else has info on that?

You can overnight at the aires in the Docks for €4 (its on the app and has reviews) but during the day the hourly rate is something along the lines of €2 an hour,

Hope the hospital appointment has good news for you 👍🏻

If you go into the car park at the docks beside the Harbour Hotel it's €8 for 24 hours and we have overnighted there. Plenty of room.

Bit of a hike to the hospital about 20 mins according to google, longer if the wife is window shopping.

We have overnighted on a couple occasions no problem in the Cathedral car park, last time was approximately four years ago, there were other Motorhomes parked there as well. Don’t know if things have changed since though.

Any chance that there might be a barrier fitted at the Cathedral ?
Would my camper be safe there or the docks unattended all day ?

I have not used the Cathereral carpark in years, I don't know for sure if they have barriers (but if there is they would be recent)
Personally I would park it at the Docks but that's just me,

I don't think there is any problems with vans being broken into around Galway.
Looking at Google there is a low ticket barrier at the entrance to the Cathedral carpark. And the €4 all day parking across the street is straight in off the road in several places.

There’s a barrier at the gates to the cathedral car park. You stick your arm out, take a ticket from the machine, and the barrier comes up. There is a large car park next to the cathedral , which I would think is city council operated. It has no barriers. I’m not sure the daily or overnight rates. I would have no qualms whatsoever in parking at Galway harbor overnight.

We usually stay overnight and move up seamus quirke road between Newcastle road and the back gate of the hospital along the back of Breast Check. There's no pay parking up there so you need to be up there before 8 to get a space. Have parked in the car park outside the cathedral but at 23 ft long you'd need to be getting into an end space or one you can drive in straight of the road. Spaces are tight so turning into or out of the middle spaces can be difficult once the car park fills up
