Surly the chip has contact details? Or the owners can be traced via the club.

I gave them the number and e-mail of the Kennel club - so hopefully they will contact them

Hope the doggie finds its owners but it reminds me of the story ,On a wet windy evening getting near Christmas, there was a knock on the Parocial House door and the old Priest answered it, not too pleased he had to leave his telly. There standing in the doorway was a wet and bedragelled man holding a bundle . Yes says the Priest, Father, says the man my old friend of 15 years, Patch has died ,and then opening the bundle he exposed a dead Jack Russell and I wonder if you could say a few prayers over him before I bury him. No I cant snapped the Priest but if you go to the bottom of this road you will find the Vicars house and he may do something. Thank you Father he says, then as the man walks away he says back, Do you think Father ,would he be offended if I offered him a £100 donation for his trouble. Stop. shouts the old Priest and come back here. YOU didnt tell me Patch was a catholic dog. I know Ally wont be happy but perhaps he will forgive me and put in the right place.

Ally, it’s quite remarkable (for all the wrong reasons) how many dogs are chipped - but the paperwork was never done so the chip is useless!!!

Heard this discussion on the radio the other day. Apparently it is the dog owner that needs to follow up getting the dog details in the register once the chip is put in place. I think you to go on to fido.ie. I didn’t know this. I’ll have to get my dogs chip number to follow this up.

If I remember right its different in the north as the vet puts the chip in and sends the info off to the Dept of Agriculture who then send out the certificate to the owner once they have recorded it onto the database.

Yes...That's correct Jason...You have to register the dog on Fido.ie. If memory serve's I think there's a tenner charge also?
