Anyone else using one? I got one yesterday, amazingly fast and can only get faster with updates. Boots from cold in seconds.

Easiest way to describe it is like a laptop and an android tablet combined. It's own Operating System "Chrome OS" built on linux.

Google have offered $100,000 dollars if you can hack one and you can't get any virus's, so pretty secure.

Very impressed with it.

Around £200, they require very little resources so don't need powerful machines. The operating system is only 200MB. 3 x USB, HDMI etc

I went for the 14" one here...

It's certainly cheaper than a new iPad

There's even a file & folder system, unlike the ipad/iphone :)

It is mainly an online device, but then I suppose that's how everything is going. You need a google account to make the most of it but again just like you need an Apple account for the iPad. It relies a lot on Google Drive and you get 100GB free when you buy it.

I don't like Touch Pads on laptops and prefer a mouse but find this one very good. Tap two fingers to right click, slide two fingers to scroll. I did however plug a mouse into one of the USB ports and it worked straight away, no drivers to load or anything so Plug and Play seems good.

I got one as doing admin when away in the MH on MHC is very difficult on a phone and even a tablet. Can have multiple windows open and even FTP.

If anyone is thinking of buying one, be warned, it is not a laptop, it does not have windows, you can't run Microsoft office on it although you can use the online one. Think of it more like a tablet with a proper fat finger sized keyboard & touchpad :) - at least the 14" one has.

Don't think there is an Open Office that you can install for it but it can be used online and there are others like google docs, evernote. Maybe a wrap around app for Open office, not looked yet. As I said, it's all mainly online and you can even use photoshop.

This is an old article: http://www.pcworld.com/article…ld-do.html

Seems you can use MS Office 365 ; http://dailygenius.com/office-…hromebook/

Found more :)

Slide two fingers left and right and browser will go back or forward a page.

Slide three fingers left to right and you can change between browser tabs.

They attempted to deliver mine this morning at 10.45, but no one at home. Resheduled for tomorrow morning now.

Delivery company and myself laughed at HP s delivery statement in that they would email the night prior to the delivery and text an hour before the delivery is due.
Still not to bad a delivery time as I ordered it on Sunday.
Use the voucher code for 15% off.

I have haven't got one because my understanding is you can do nothing with it if you are not connected to the internet.
So still with the laptop..
As connectivity to the internet improves they are the things of the future
Look forward to hearing what you think about it in few months

Know what you mean but that was more the case on the first chromebooks, a lot you can do offline now. Despite their limitations offline it suits me perfectly, when I'm on a device I am online, or I wouldn't be on it :)

1.5 years later, still using the same Chromebook. See no reason to upgrade it, still as fast as the day I bought, a very handy machine to have. On it now sitting at home and just remembered about this topic.

Only downside is the early ones you cannot still use all the Android Apps, you can with the new ones.

Would I buy another? most definitely YES

The previous Google PixelBook was even more expensive.

Love how it connects to a desktop, might be a time to move away from my big desktop. All Play Store Apps and Linux software can now be installed.

Early Chrismas Present..

Couldn't justify the price tag of the Pixel stuff so opted for a Acer R13, its a flip model so keyboard goes 360 degress and then it can become a tablet, I prefer it as a laptop.

Must say "WOW" very happy with it and the Play Store is brilliant on it.

MPI App works perfect and you can open google maps from the App, see your route.
