Mattress height

Our camper came with a memory foam double size mattress for the overhead bed but it's 18cm high and makes the bed very high up and not much room if you roll forward towards the front, pic attached.
I am wondering if I should be looking at a lower height mattress with foam / memory ?
Any recommendations - standard double mattress size fits.

If you get one at 12 cm you've only gained 6 cm is it worth the cost

I was thinking the same myself, from a look online I see 12cm's and 15cm's so no advantage and a big cost.
Just when I go up to bed on it I am raised up very high.

The bed itself has springy lats under it.

A cheap way to lower it would be to take a bread knife and mark out and cut the desired cms off and put the cut ( rough ) side on the lats

We had a different problem with our overcab bed, with the foam mattress banjaxed. A trip to Ikea and a purchase of a mattress topper put the luxury back into our bed.
I reckon that it's worth a trip to Ikea because they have a hugh selection of mattresses on display and are not too bad on price. The replacement mattresses for a sofa bed is probably the best match for a mh.

Thank you, so maybe a lower cheaper foam mattress plus an Ikea topper could be worth a look - the wife will love the idea of an Ikea trip.

If you buy an IKEA mattress and you don’t like it you have 90 days to bring it back.
We have a sofa bed thin mattress ok for occasional use.
Will you it feel the laths through the thinner mattress.?
If that happens, what about those mats for gym exercises/ kids playrooms. that Join like a jigsaw.
We used them for different purpose, for flooring in the mh garage ( insulation/absorbs rattle sounds)

Ordered a foam mattered from EBay , 5cm firm foam with 5cm memory phone on top.
Received today and had lie on it and seems comfortable.
