My fridge is running on high and won't adjust. The thermostat knob feels very free . I have removed the cover but unable to get at the thermostat . There is a black panel that I can't remove the cover. Has any one replaced this switch ? How do you get access to remove the switch?

Check that its not the plastic knob that is in your pic, I replaced one of my ones a few years back,

I removed the cover and knob but the thermostat is still turning very loosely. Not adjusting the temp.

Had the same problem a few years ago. It turned out the little grey plastic spindle (shaft thingy, about the diameter of a matchstick) which connects the back of the knob to the thermostat had broken just where it fits into the thermostat due to the ageing of the plastic it's made of.
I was lucky my local caravan dealer had a control panel removed from a caravan which had a different fault and he was able to salvage the piece from that. Otherwise, I was looking at buying a complete new control panel which would have cost over €100.

Mine had broken with the thermostat set at the position where I normally leave it. I was going to live with it except the cheap fix came along, as it wasn't affecting the performance of the fridge except I couldn't make it colder if I wanted to.

Is it possible to open up the black panel behind the outer cover. I can only see one screw. When I remove his the black cover does not seem to open.

Got it repaired today in Anchorpoint. Small spindle broken where is moves the thermostat in the black control panel. Quick response less than an hour. Great service as usual in Anchorpoint. Thanks James and David.
