Toolio (not sure that’s the spelling) who fitted it says it will run the fridge pretty much week in, week out. Perhaps one or two very grey days a year we might need to switch it off to let the solar catch up. We will see!
Not sure 240w of solar will run your fridge 'week in week out' unless it's a very small fridge.
I have 200w plus a top of range MPPT controller and when the sun is low (October to March) they max out at about 100w in clear sunshine at midday and much less during the morning and afternoon, that's my actual experience in the south of Spain last winter.
Figures would be significantly less the further north you go, south of Ireland is about 65w max at midday, in the winter.
On a cloudy day, a few watts is all you can expect.

Just to update, the solar is fantastic. We have ice and ice creams every day. Now, as we turn for home and trips to Hook Head etc, can anyone recommend a 12v heater that we can snuggle around given the solar we have?

Got it done at FF Solar outside Aljezur. It is a 240 W extra panel on a single 230 MAH battery. We have ice! As I said I went mad. The night before we spent €20 for a night in an awful site just for the hook up which was the final straw.
hi- which controller do you use?
did ff solar supply and fit?
just curious- i have bought a few bits from them-they seem very efficient
thanks

Yeah not a runner. You need a minimum of 1000 watts of heating. That would probably discharge your batteries in about an hour. You would need to be on EHU for that or burn fossil fuels.
I would look at gas or diesel blow heating. You’ll still need a 12 volt connection somewhere but that’ll only be to operate ignition and a blower.
