we are going Monday night for Tuesday, that way there is a chance of seeing some of it before it gets into a muck hole and completely jammed with people. If it's not too bad we can stay until Wednesday.

Went last year and ended up buying a new, to us, MH on the way home so d aren't go again this year.  It's a great event muck or no muck and well worth going to. There's so much more than farming in it and two days are needed to do it in comfort. Stop diddering, just go and enjoy. :-)

Great event.

We went last year for the first day, Tuesday, and left Tuesday evening as heavy rain was forecast, and yes it rained heavily.

Despite the regulations there were a few tents pitched and some auxiliary, i.e.not on board MH, generators but it was reasonably quiet.

Something for everybody, loads of farming stuff but lots of craft, food stalls etc.

Take a pair of wellies.

While I have been to the ploughing championship a good few times as a day tripper, my recommendation would be to go on Monday evening and park up. Avoid the morning traffic as it would be hectic driving in a mh. Stay for a day or two but leave the site at 9 or 10 pm and avoid the traffic home. Or else wait untill mid day to leave the site
The npa office can be contacted on TEL: 00 353 (0) 59 8625125. The phones will be manned .

In the morning time all roads are one way (in only) in the evening all roads are one way (out only)its almost impossible to get to the MH parking early evening, you have to wait until they change back to normal, from memory it is around 9pm.
The traffic is very busy but Garda keep it flowing

I am aware of that ,Ken.
In fairness to the Npa and the garda ,the traffic management is brillant.
I work in Stradbally, Co Laois and it takes nearly 2 days to move the Electric picnic crowd onto the site, about 45000 people. When the ploughing was in Stradbally, 80,000 people was moved in about 4 hours, each morning and evening.
The ploughing is a great event, with something for everyone. The country and western line up is usually worth a visit on its own.

Did anyone look at the regs for the camper/caravan park? it states a 6 meter separation, the last time I went you would have been lucky if you had 60 cm

I was there last year and and the year before and there was good seperation both times. The only problem was some "Gentleman" running a generator during the night. :(

I looked at the regs - 6m, no gennies. I’ll be at the show but staying in a hotel with Work like last year but I was amazed at how many Motorhomes seemed to be pa led in last year. I was lucky to get away the evening before the heavy rain hit.

Sprinter I will be a moving target as I am not restricted to a stand but will be loosely based around the NI Dept of Agriculture (DAERA) stand but I will just be dropping my wellies off and calling in for food now and again!

well with the weather forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday I am seriously considering leaving the van in the yard, walking around in a mucky field and then having to be towed out of the parking, doesn't really do it for me.

Are you saying that a nice green John Deere tractor in front of your wagon would be totally wrong? ???
Honestly I can't blame you, because those guys never look behind them with snap chat and etc in their paws.
THE kids are hounding me to go and Tuesday is the only day that suits me, but it will be a non mh event for us.
Wait until their Teachers hear on Wednesday morning "that the ploughing on Tuesday was a wash out and Daddy make us walk up and down a field in the pissing rain while the water ran down our backs into the wellies".
