I'm back.
We ll I am but still Autosleeper less.
New units received and sent back as didn't work so new (old fashioned) way used to hopefully find out what caused the fault in the first place.
The inside of my van and under the bonnet currently looks like one in a wreckers yard with just about every thing taken out for checking and testing.
Well hopefully now found what caused the problem.
At the back of the main fuse box (under the bonnet) there is damage to the wiring (don't know why or how)
this has caused a short and overheat and a lot of the wires are fused together and it has also melted the back of the fuse box
Totally and utterly you know what,
David

If I read this thread I would swear it was made up.
Latest
Garage contacted Peugeot and gave them the part number off the back of the damaged unit they asked for a picture which was sent.

The Fusebox according to Peugeot is not one fitted to the Boxer in fact it is not a Peugeot part at all.

They are investigating now to see if the number printed on the back confirms what they believe is that it is either a Fiat or Citroën
box which would have been wrongly fitted, (of course they say after leaving factory but of course most likely not, as I have spoken to AutoSleeper and they have seen other non Pug parts on new vans in)

Could this have been the main cause in the first place

I would say no, its not to blame as the three brands produce their vans in the same factory and the only real difference in them is the engine/gearbox and from what I know its only Fiat which has a different version the other two are the same. You would assume that anything which would cause an electrical problem would be closely monitored so as not to be fitted to the wrong version.

However mistakes do happen and if that part is the wrong one from the factory then the cause of the fault would pass back to the manufacturer of the said base vehicle and it would be up to them to firstly meet all repair costs and then address the issue of compensating the owner for loss of use/depreciation/goodwill etc.

Well it is established that it is a FIAT fusebox
I am guessing (yes only guessing) that it differs in some way from the Peugeot one as a new one from Fiat was over £50 plus VAT cheaper than one from Peugeot.
Rightly or wrongly discussed with garage and decided that it was best to replace like with like.
Next step is to strip back the melted wiring loom. The garage is going to hopefully repair this if it is not too badly gone as a new one is just a tad under £1000 plus VAT

We were definitely going to Change it when we did get it back but it has reached the cost stage were its looking like we either just get rid and go back to the caravan or just keep the dam thing but the problem with this is that I don't think I will ever be happy with or trust it again. Maybe when it does finally get "fixed" I might feel different.

Wonderful news David , I look forward to paragraph or two of your travels and of how the fault/blame/ rectifying bears out after the sun has settled on the issues

Well the first report is bl@@dy hell 🇧🇭
Took it out after filling tanks to clean them stopped at a junction held a long time foot on the brake and the switch jammed so it back in the garage. They hooked it up and it showed no problem and light and warning went out so took it out again and fine until again held it on foot brake at hold up then back again.
Looked up on internet common fault on the van when it is not used for some time so its back in the garage waiting new switch.

Well it has made up our minds it is going, we are booked into the Motorhome show at Malvern next month hopefully will find something there we both like or may have a van converted (have seen a load of Sprinter Mini buses for sale) we shall see

David

Well the new brake switch didn't solve the problem and all different plug ins show no problem
The specialist motorhome garage who have been doing the work have taken it now to Pug main dealer
once again I wait and see

Well its been at main dealer for 4 days and they have no idea what is wrong only suggestion they have is the ABS ECU will need to be replaced only problem with that is it already has.
So it is going back to the local garage (me quite a few quid down with Pugs bill for testing) going to try changing earthing strap as I have read somewhere that this can be a cause of false readings
o.O >_<

David , this really is incredible, however I greatly admire that you can still function at all, however why not drive it on as the faulty reading regards light is the issue , I take it is driving perfectly

Two points really
1. We have no idea or not if it is indeed safe to drive with a braking fault showing
2. Its got to go and I could not sell/trade in with the fault showing

Regarding functioning I don't really think that I am doc keeps increasing the dosage but as you can see with times of notes not sleeping

For those of you not totally bored with this thread.
Got the van back fully functioning about 3 weeks ago and have had a week away and it ran perfect, no lights no smoke and almost every thing worked,
The almost related to having to get the AA out due to a Seat belt failure would you believe new one cost £20 and back on the road.
Broken roof light due to overhanging branch down country lane ordered and in my garage for fitting.
The van is now in the paint shop for a respray to the gas locker door as the valets who cleaned it for the garage used some chemical and it got under the plastic coating and left it yellow their cost not mine.
So within the next few days will get her back, Friday we are off to Shepton Mallet motorhome show,in the car, me I would love to get rid but after the last trip the boss is no longer sure
Still what will be will be.
Hopefully I wont be adding anymore tales to this thread so its the end
David

No harm in looking, with everything now working its easy to say its a keeper, but if it was me I would always be wondering what is going to go wrong next and how much/long to sort that out.

Shepton is a good show, we used to go there every year because we got a free trip to England when we booked the summer ferry. In fact we bought our present MH there, take loads of money as you will be tempted as eirebus says
