What a spot! went there last night and met up with Kelvin, Lucy, Michael (nomad1) and Michael's friend(sorry forget your name to many beer!)

Definately the best free stopover we have been at yet, right on the lough shore with brilliant views, electric for £1, water taps, toilets, free WiFi in the bar... oh yes there is a bar :) - chippy on site that does an amazing menu and delivers it by hand to your table in the bar, playground for kids. Paddy the owner is very keen for Motorhomers to stop over and he has an abundance of room, if it ever fills up he has another area that he can put loads more Motorhomers. I'm sure some of you have been there before but if you haven't I can thoroughly recommend it! Staff went out of their way to make sure everything was spot on.

Thanks to Kelvin, Lucy, Michael and his friend for the craic!! next time I am bringing the guitar ;-)

Hook up points, meant for boats but Motorhomers can use them, ask in the bar and you get a card for £1 that you use to activate the electric.

i never bother with ehu, i have stayed in the car park(level tarmac)

only one negative is the midges, but you always get midges where there is water . a few precautions and it is easily overcome.

a gem of a stopover.

Wouldn't bother with EHU usually either, but Leisure battery gave up the ghost. 🇧🇭

is this a little touch of 'there but for' I ask myself?....I had to replace mine a short time ago too....got damaged by a high discharge because of a blown fuse which wasn't caught on in time, so didn't recharge lol....then of course became sulphated and wouldn't charge properly.....something I'm going to have to pay more attention to in a small van.

Sounds like perhaps Craic members have another new possible favourite meet place?

Hi All

We spent last night at The Battery Bar, this place is amazing, the views are stunning and the facilities are superb and its free... as long as you dont count the money you spend in the bar or in the delicious pizza/chippie. If you are thinking of going for the June weekend stop thinking and go, it is something else, and you really will enjoy. There are lots of open space, grass and hard standing, hookups if needed, toilets, water, park for the kids and a small beach area, free wifi, just about everything you could want - oh and a bar with a big fire, which i guess we spent too much time in last night as we certainly needed the wind from the lough this morning to clear the head. I have taken some photos, and will post them seperately, hopefully they will give you a flavour of the spot.

Thank you Ally, Julie and Big Merv for the great craic. And thank you Rufus for keeping Murphy occupied.

Dee

Think the £1 would maybe do you all weekend, its very relaxed. Not sure about music, last time looked there was a DJ on, might be worth ringing and finding out.
