Bit of a rant incoming ,

So we were away last night not too far as we could only go for the one night , on our way home today we had 3 instances of stupid driving by other motorists ,

we were coming through a village plodding along doing the speed limit and a car pulls out just as we were approaching i had to brake causing everything in the fridge to move about ,

We kept motoring and we were on the main road just after coming through a town doing about 70kmph and a truck with a milk tanker went about crossing the road in front of us ! i had to swerve to go around him , i dunno is it the heat driving them mad or what but id never seen it so bad , the three instances happened on an hours drive home ,

Maybe they percieve us as being slow on the road and dont realise we need breaking time with the weight up behind us , granted i wouldnt often do 100kmph but try to keep it at the 90kmph unless going up a hill ( noone can help us there :D )

Be careful out there folks !

Driving the mh is no different to my tractor driving days.
Most motorists don't want to be stuck behind something that they perceive to be slow, so they will pull out in front of you, causing you to stand on the brakes.
A good belt of the horn, usually earns me, impolite hand gestures in return.

I drive mine like I'm carrying a giant load of eggs in the back. I can do fast or slow as is necessary, but I gotta be smooth on the ABS
Accelerator
Brakes &
Steering

If you expect the unexpected and are smooth on the A B & S you'll be ok.

The phrase used most on our travels is “are we f****ing invisible” pulling out without regard, overtaking dangerously the list is endless

I drive as I would an HGV, smooth with plenty of braking distance and treat every other driver as an idiot.... On motorways I sit at about 65-68mph, cruise control on, our current one seems happy at that.

Absolutely agree with everything said so far. They do not want to be stuck behind us. Again as has been said drive with caution...expect the unexpected.

Suppose I am used to it now having been a "tugger" for over 35 years I expect every dam toerag to just pull out in front of me or overtake even when I am upto the speed limit. Think it is the Clarkson effect
Sod it, yesterday driving down a wide road near home solo in the Lexus 30mph speed limit doing 30ish two speed cameras within 800 yards of each over overtaken twice both time they passed doing god knows what speed to slap brakes on just before camera right in front of me so I had too, so maybe it just that there are a load more idiots on the road who have no manners in fact I know they have no manners with the hand signals you get from a lot of them. Rant dun

(A little off-topic)

Want to be invisible?

Try driving a 1998 Subaru Vivio on a daily commute!!

(Red car in centre-shot)

I know it's a tiny jap "micro car" but come on!!!

Even though it's bright red people cut me up constantly like I'm not there? I have no f*cking idea why they do it...

The car belongs to my folks. They bought it to tug behind the camper but never got around to fitting an A frame to it.

I have it at the moment for it's annual service and NCT.

Sorry, I just can't see it.

Try riding a Honda step-thru with a flourescent orange flag, extra running lights while wearing a yellow high viz jacket.

Gonna get a Stebel Nautilus air-horn.

They're too busy texting.

Invisible? Quite the contrary, they see me perfectly clear and they decide to just pull out in front of me as if I was doing 5km/h where I'm actually doing the speed limit.

Also, multiple times people not looking ahead and doing the impossible to overtake us where the traffic is well jammed all the way up by something else. I've seen very risky maneuvers pulled by car drivers where people in both directions have to brake in order not to crash.

All to meet them in the next toll or petrol station...

It was our maiden voyage today - 30 miles from old owner to our mechanic to check. What shocked me was being high enough up to see that all the hgv drivers were on their phones :-o That was scary!

BUT I passed 2 motor homes near Maghera and we all waved! I was so happy :-D Felt like I was in a new gang :-D

Yeah, I think when people see a mh they think it will be slow and don't want to be stuck behind it.

I think I had a rant on here before about the same thing

I also see the same when driving a small car ...we have a Toyota aygo and people will do everything they can to overtake you, only to slow down in front and slow you down, or pull out in front of you on a roundabout.

I often threaten to install a big loud air horn in it just to scare them.
