Have applied for the sticker.

According to the English version of the site, the application is still being processed and will be sent soon.

But according to the French version, it says that the sticker has already been posted!

Obviously more efficient in their own language.

Just looking there, I have a 1996 motorhome and the table here states "No Crit'Air". Does that mean I don't even have to apply?

https://www.crit-air.fr/en/inf…lours.html

I think it means your van is too old to be allowed into these so called " Clean Air " Zones. We have an old van also and never bothered with them...never had any trouble from the smog police either. It's a horse sh*t law even the French dont abide by. But.....If you want to stick to the rule's by all means do so. They are more knowledgeable folks on here who can give you great advice.

Only a small minority of the French motorhomers bother about it, I would think 80% + don’t bother.
The French police on the ground don’t give a monkeys about it and don’t enforce it at all.
Most of the foreign vans get them because it’s the law.

Cheap and easy to get online less than €5.
Met someone in Dicks field said they had been stopped and warned.
They were going back to France later last year and they had just bought a new MH and bought Crit sticker.
One sticker lasts the lifetime of motorhome

My application for a certificate was denied (the van is 1996). No particular reason given apart from:

Your vehicle does not fall under any of the vehicle classes for which the Air Quality Certificates are awarded.

Mainly to do with driving through large cities, but maybe this year more widespread , lasts lifetime of motorhome.

Has anyone bought same for Germany, or Spain ...Incase we head that direction ?

We just avoid going to France now for those reasons. We have a 99 van and never had a crit air sticker, never had any problems either but just not worth the hassle if they are going to get tough on it. Anyway....The weather in France can be a lottery, even in high summer, Just head further south....Spain!

I have one for Germany. When I was there I avoided the cities. I usually go to the Aire at Dusseldorff but it is now inside the clean air zone and my van is Class 3 so not allowed. You need to check each city before you get to it so you are not caught out.

Is the van too old to get one, although I wouldn't have thought so, I would expect to get a crit 5 even

I was expecting to get one also but they didn't give a specific reason. Could be age (1996), could be that on the log book it's make and model are "unspecified". Have no idea.

That work of fiction issued by Shannon which is also known as a Registration Certificate is becoming more and more of a problem. For both my German and French emission stickers I had to send a copy of the vehicle's Certificate of Conformity (C.O.C.)
If the GVW isn't correct it can also cause hassle for automatic toll systems which are GVW and/or emissions related like those in Austria and Switzerland to name just two.

The most ridiculous certificate for a motorhome had the following info
EU Vehicle Category M2 = minibus
GVW 1kg
The number of seats =2
So, according to the Reg. Cert. it is a Minibus with only two seats with a GVW of 1 kg.

The way they operate in France is different from Germany. In Germany, the restrictions are permanent and mainly towns and cities. In France whole areas of the country are covered but only brought into operation when necessary during periods of poor air quality. So it if air quality is bad it might not be possible to transit through France to get to Spain.

Anyone know how often these high emission restrictions have been triggered in the last year or if they were ever and what is the fine for violating them?
