Handy.

I wonder are there temporary toilets in the container and will cassette emptying be allowed in them?

Could you empty (carefully) in the toilet until the new block is built and the service is restored ?
Looks like its gonna end up in the same spot anyway👍

That looks like more than just a toilet block, unless it’s for the entire county 😂

Photo is deceiving, not as big as it looks. But then I am only assuming it's a toilet block as that's where the last one used to be.

Time will tell I guess. I have never been to Portrush. Would you say it’s an overnight stop, or could you put in a few days there, for future reference

A few days for sure. Plenty to do in the area. Some love it, some seem to hate it.

Parts of it are a bit of a dump, but it also has its good points and plenty to do for those with kids

Some nice bars, The Harbour Bar, Kiwi Brew Bar. Some are pretty grim like any area, stay to the touristy ones.

Great beaches, plenty of amusements, touristy shops although not many. It's definitely worth a visit in my view.

That whole coast is beautiful David, easy to spend a Long weekend there.
The town itself is a tourist town, but a few nice pubs restaurant open all year round.
Lots to see in easy reach, Bushmills distillery/rope bridge/ giants causeway to name only a few.
So, to answer your question....... absolutely yes, no problem spending an extended stay there.

EDIT...
Ally beat me to it !

I couldn't find the pay machine, seems to be removed.

I’m at the Portrush Aire tonight and the service point and half the bays are still unavailable. Aire still packed and a lot of vans in the bus park area plus another 9 or so in the Ramore head area. The pay machine is still there but not obvious to anyone not familiar with the place - it behind a nearby bus shelter.

The card facility is still not working so I put what change I could into it to cover me while I stopped over for a few hours tonight. Not enough change to cover me til the morning so I put what tickets I have our. I didn’t see any other vans with tickets but did see one person scurrying to the pay machine with a handful of shrapnel when a council van pulled up - but that was just to lock up the toilets. I think most people are assuming there is no charge if the Aire is not functioning.

As an aside I notived a wet patch on the floor of the motorhome tonight & traced it to a leaking pipe under the boiler. A quick tighten of a Jubilee clip seems to have stopped it. Phew.

Sounds like you're really not wanted or an attempt to make you want to use local campsites ,, sound familiar ???

Parked up for a few hours week before last before heading to Portstewart. There is now a big sign on the fence pointing to the pay machine. The new toilet block looks like it could be finished just in time for the end of the main tourist season. Great planning to close half the Aire over the summer months.
