#chew the fat
#chewing the fat

Since I have left Facebook, and in all seriousness....... what a feckin good idea that was! !.......

I would usually share stuff to Facebook that I found interesting so have decided to share it here instead and hopefully you will too - A "Chew the Fat" topic and as the name goes, anything is up for sharing as long as it is legal and clean.

We will however turn it around and for those who have a Facebook account, please use the Social share buttons after posting, the ones at the bottom of the topic, to share to Facebook and other platforms. A redirect of a redirect.

Have fun :)

There's always so much talk of safety cameras reducing road deaths and I don't think the statistics support that at all... It's an easy one to focus on, but mobile phones and general driver behaviour (motorway lane usage, distance from other vehicles etc) are huge contributors! This New Zealand road safety ad has always stuck with me as it says don't put yourself in a position you can't then avoid!

Road Safety Racket.

There will be quite a few who disagree with me on this. The Road Safety Racket(partnership) is just a money making exercise.

"If you weren't speeding, you wouldn't be caught" an easy reply that can be heard all the time spouted by folk who believe the GVT's hype.

I drive 5 days a week, between 250 - 330 miles per day around the six counties of NI, rural, urban, motorways, b roads, A roads etc etc

In 8 months of that driving I have not seen one RSP camera van in a rural area, we all know the reason for this, it's not about safety its about creating revenue. There is no money to be made on rural roads as there is not enough traffic, yet that's were the more serious accidents usually happen. If you drive for a living or do a lot of miles I think you will agree with me, you spend more time checking and worrying about your speed than you do looking out the bloody windscreen! It is a complete falacy that speed is the danger they make it out to be in the cases that they are catching people speeding.

At the bottom of hills were oncoming cars cannot see them or are maybe doing a few miles over the limit. How is that dangerous?

Just inside 30 or 40 zones (UK) getting those who have failed to slow down enough from 60 but actually are slowing down - how is that dangerous?

It is a money making exercise and that is all, nothing to do with safety. If you want it to benefit safety then they need to be doing a lot of things different than they are.

Where I live cars are able to go past my house at 80 or 90 MPH, but there is no money to be made in the police or the RSP being there as the traffic is that light, so we haven't seen the police in a long time and NEVER seen an RSP van.

Ally ,I know this is the wrong place but as I can't go back the last 24hrs .
So this is what I'm getting.
When I open the site I get the cookies messages which I have to accepted, then I'm transferred to the list of new posts and new topics and all the rest on that page .
I have no bell yet if I select a post I have looked at eg, the 12hour I cannot post a reply its not there because it appears I am not logged in .
If I select a post I have not looked at now I get the bell and the number of new posts since I last opened the site, and when I hit it I am transferred back to new posts since last ,that's all that's under the bell.
So unless you post something new on the 12hr I cannot reply.
Hope this clear?

All you do is go to the homepage, look at which category you want to go to and find the post there. This is why I dislike posts since last visit, people only see new posts, not the proper structure of the forum which is available at the homepage. www.motorhomecraic.com/

The discussion you are looking for is in the category: "Motorhome Chat" and is called "The next 12 hours"

You could even go to the homepage www.motorhomecraic.com/ and use the "what's new" function.

If you need to find anything - always go to the homepage and start from there: www.motorhomecraic.com/

It seems you have not cleared all your Cookies, have you done the "delete cookies of this forum" on ALL devices you use?

Interesting stuff alright. I reckon all this debate about should we put driverless cars on the road because they kill people will fizzle out as soon as the stats show that driverless cars are responsible for less deaths then human drivers. The insurance companies will need to figure out whos fault it is though if your driverless car injures/ kills someone. Is it you, the car manufacturer or the software developers?

The program I watched went into a lot more decisions that the car would have to make. We immediately think that a car fitted with superior GPS could drive on the roads, but once the AI is mentioned it is mind boggling.

All those decisions you automatically make when driving are going to be made by a computer, I am sure the computer is quite capable and probably faster than a lot of humans. But, working out what all those decisions are and then programming a computer to replicate that is fascinating and why it has taken so long.

I'm open minded about it. One of the risks is in 20 years, you'll struggle to insure a human operated car because AI operated car insurance will be way cheaper!

That and I wonder how "hacker proof" will AI operated cars be?

I don't know about you, how could I? what a stupid statement.

Don't you think "the high street is dieing" "lets redesign the high street" etc etc is a bit too feckin late?

It's dead, online shopping is the future, suck it up and move on?

Think in this dieing planet the amount of power used to keep just one shop open, heat, lighting etc. Think how much power ordering online doesn't use in a comparison.

Get over it and start building houses for the homeless in town centres with shops that are actually needed, that can't be done online. Start opening disused buildings for the homeless and poor to live in.
