Over night motorhome parking is no longer allowed in Groomsport Harbour car park. We stopped there today and we were informed by a local that the sign was put up a couple of days ago.

They cleared that quick from last night! Mark stated in another thread that it was "only just tolerated" so it could be that their tolerance has run out. Move on down to Donaghadee it's not far especially if you are from Bangor

its a pity, you would wonder if the local businesses support the ban! We were on our way home and just stopped for a while. When we past the Aire at Donaghadee it was pretty full, it's a popular place.

If they don't want us then we won't give them our hard earned cash. Groomsport has always been a bit too snobbish for me anyway and I've always gone to Donaghadee.

We went to Donaghadee after the show and fireworks last night but due to it being late made the decision to go to the car park beside the old bus depot so as not to make a nuisance of myself at the aire, went down for a walk this morning to see what space was available so we could move down and there were 14 vans there so stayed put for a while before heading off around the coast for a drive.

I agree, it's their loss, I'm happy to spend a bit of cash in places we are made welcome.

would be good if anyone passing, called into a local business and gave them a wee card. The one that states a motorhomer visited, get the council to facilitate them.

Was in groomsport today and sure enough there is a sign up in red letters stating no camping or overnight parking by order of the council I'm sure the local shop, chippy and pub will lose business

Really disappointed to hear this as we often stop overnight as it is so peaceful , we would always dine out and use the local supermarket .

We stayed there on Thursday night along with another couple, didn't even notice the sign, ignorance is bliss, but nobody said anything to us. Hady

Exactly my thinking Jack, how many people have been moved on after parking where these signs have been erected.
Quite often it is nothing more than scare tactics.
Exactly as you say park and plead ignorant.

Ntg that's what I have done over the years and have only been asked to move on once which I did and it was at 7 a.m in the morning on the Isle of Arran. I have to say I waited until I had my breakfast.

Stopped at Groomsport at the weekend, we were going to stay despite the sign but thought, if we are not welcome why give them any money. So we went on to Donaghadee.

@Hymer524

Yeah, I put it on the App quite some time ago. Stayed there a couple of times, it's lovely with a bar close by.
