Power Control Knob for Electrolux RM6501

 ·

My 03 Fiat Ducato Rapido 786F has an Electrolux RM6501 fridge / freezer, a while ago the control knob which switches the power between 122v, 240v and gas boke where it slides over the metal spindle.
I have repaired it temporarily by winding wire around the broken end and taping it. It is working ok at the moment but I don't know for how long.
I have tried 2 or 3 reclaimation places in the UK but no-one has this item, also any online parts shop I find it says it is not available any more.
Does anyone have an idea where I could try, if not online, we are touring around Ireland in July and could call in one or two places that might have one.
The problem is that the spindle it quite stiff to turn and if I try and turn it with a pair of thin pliers the ends don't grip, I suppose I could try and get a bit of tubing from somewhere and hammer one side flat so that I could at least turn the controller if the plastic knob did break.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Phil

Thanks very much for the info, but neither of them seem to have the part I need, it looks like it is part no. 58 Control Knob - Selector on both sites, one says it is no longer available and the other shows it in the exploded diagram but does not give it in the parts available list.
The knob that is available on all the sites I have found is part no. 57 which is the thermostat knob, it does looks similar though but without the cut out section in the rim to show the power supply selected and I think the spindle is slightly different and not strengthened at the end with a metal band.
Thanks for the effort though
Phil

East coast campers are about a hour south of Dublin. They are the only camper dismantlers that I know of.
Another option to explore is look at a caravan beaker, especially one who deals in high end models like hobby, bustner etc as the gear in them is similar to campervans.

this has the cut out and the band at the end . may be worth a phone call

Yes that is one I have looked at, I think they have the wrong photo in the listing as thermostat knob doesn't have the cut out , looking at the listing, to the left and down a bit from the picture it says "customers also bought" and it shows the Control Knob Selector, which is the one I want, but it also says " no longer available"

No one is going to sell you a knob from a from a second hand fridge unless the fridge is f----d .try other outlets for a knob you can modify.

Yes the links to pictures are on the first post
The fridge freezer itself isn't broke, just the plastic knob where it goes over the metal spindle, I will go and get it today and see if I can strengthen it again, I will see if I have a piece of tubing that I can slide over the end to strengthen it and stop it opening out then the knob is turned, although it it holding quite well at the moment with the wire I have bound round it.
I don't know how long it will last though that's why I want to try and get a replacement. When travelling around its used quite often to switch between gas and 12v.

seems to be plenty in Germany/Netherlands but its listed as a thermostat knob, are they interchangeable?

Thanks for your efforts, Yes I have found that there are plenty of the thermostat knobs around but not the power knob, after taking both knobs off the fridge they are nearly identical except the thermostat one is about 1cm longer, so I could use one of those if all else fails, I imagine as the controller knob is stiffer to turn, they broke more often and the suppliers sold out of those.
I am attempting a repair at the moment

Phil ,when I refitted after it had set, best in a warm spot overnight, I gave the spindle a spray of WD 40 using the little red tube and it seemed a lot easier to turn
