Mirrorguards Damage to Paintwork

I have a set of Mirrorguards fitted. Over a period of time they have started to damage the paintwork on the drivers side. When the door is fully open the Mirrorguards touch or almost touch the bodywork. Even if they don't touch the bodywork, when the door is opened it 'over opens' so that the Mirrorguard bumps the bodywork before the door settles into the detent position on the door restraint.

Over a period of time I have tried several methods to reduce the door opening but all have failed.

See attached for a further solution. This one appears to work.

It took about an hour from start to finish.

Tools required

M10 Socket
T30 Screwdriver
Philips Screwdriver
Assorted Flat Bade Screwdrivers

Very good solution Colin. I did go and check our van as I have just fitted mirror guards. Thankfully it is not a problem on the X290. Still about an inch of a gap.
