Currently testing this to see how it performs in the van. 4G Router with WiFi

4G Router with WiFi
300 Mbps 11n WiFi
3 Ethernet Ports
External Antenna Connectors for WiFi & 3G/4G
Takes standard size SIM card

Can take large external antennas.

I'll report as I go along.

I will be interested in this as i have recently been looking at antennas for my mifi.
A better setup than a mifi would help as i can work from the van if the signal is reliable.

The only problem with that Mark is you would likely to be away a lot on the van?

This has the two 4G aerial sockets that are required to get 4G, also a wifi aerial. I am getting a stronger signal from it on WiFi than I am from my home router.

Very easily setup, although I have yet to try it in the South I expect no problems.

I plan to get a real good antenna for it and also plan a permanent 4G aerial antenna on (outside) the van, just looking at different options now.

There are more expensive options with VPN servers and dual sim. This one is aimed at a domestic market, vehicles and at home, the other high end ones are more for vehicles that require connections from other devices, perhaps tachographs or such like and varying power sources.

Yeah, well 9volt, but can come with cigarette type power plug.

DC 9V/1A or 12V/1A

But surely with the way 3 throttle back on the network while roaming you will still have issues.

Of course, but the best signal that can be received is going to help things. Could always swap the sim if need be.

how much is the router, and the aerial

RRP is: £100 for the Router and £78 for the antenna.
I might be able to do them a bit cheaper.

I recently asked a friend what they used on their yacht and he sent me these links.
He explained that twin Ariel's are required for 4g and these are fairly good without going into serious money.

I think they are similar to those Ally is using.

ARIEL

ROUTER

How would you connect the antenna to that router? By the pics/specs the router doesn't seem to have an external antenna connection. Make sure that they have external antennas or SMA connections to hook it up.

80% that I'm blind and I'm missing it, but just in case :P

There are two Ariel connections on it which is apparently required for proper 4g. The Ariel in my previous post has two cables coming from it as it actually has two Ariels configured correctly inside the outer case.

I found this link with a video which helps a bit.

They took a lot of info from this guy's YouTube channel. They thought he was quite good.

These explain the Ariel.
