Have a booking with Irish Ferries on their new boat W.B.Yeats from Dublin to Cherbourg in july. Got an e-mail from them this morning saying that delivery of new boat is delayed. Sailing is cancelled and waiting on offer to travel on Oscar Wilde out of Rosslare. Anyone else in the same boat???

I was in the same boat ;-) , the Oscar Wilde, a few weeks ago.
It's a fine ship and good if the sea is rough.

BTW, IMHO breakfast in The Berneval Waiter Service Restaurant is way better value than the self-service The Left Bank Brasserie, particularly if you are putting together the equivalent of a full Irish Breakfast.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. Well pi$$ed off. They're offering me a few options but one is to return a day earlier - which I do not want to do. The others are later which I would love - but my boss wouldn't be too happy!

Sorry to hear this.

The Oscar Wilde is a good ferry and I agree with what Baguette has said about the restaurants.

Have they said how long the delay is as we are booked on it in August but have not received any email.

Booked this boat because its an easy spin from Dundalk, very handy on the way back just about one hour and we would be home. Hope they offer some compensation as well as alternate dates. No word how long the delay will be. On the irish ferries site this boat can still be booked for august.
P.S. what pun !!!

Hopefully everyone affected will be satisfactorily accommodated/compensated. I'm on an Irish camping group and lots families have booked and paid in full for mobile homes, pitches for caravans and tents etc.
At least with a Motorhome we never need to book ahead and tend to go with the flow.

Just heard on RTE news that they hope to accommodate everyone on the roslare route and give €150 voucher. The oscar wilde is going to be overflowing.

New Boats are nortorious for delivery dates as they have to be taken out on proving trials to obtain their certificates and then rectify all the snags before the owners, which are probably a leasing company take them over. But I am sure Irish Ferries will look after their customers. I was talking to camper tonight here in Spain who crossed this January from New Zealand north island to south and back, The boat was the old St Kevin ,now bearing a maori name after 30 years is still on charter from Irish ferries.

You got it R&N its the Kaitaki, she was the Isle of Innisfree not the St Kevin. Nice Photos.

Was on the phone to irish ferries today, sailing from rosslare to cherbourg on the 17 july coming back on new boat to Dublin on the 6th august( hopefully). I was due to sail from Dublin on the 18th but they could offer me alternative sailing on the 17 to cherbourg or 19 to roscoff. Got cabin as well so all good.

Yes, we are in the same situation but I have not been able to contact IF yet as I ended up in hospital last night with appendicitis. Hopefully we will be okay as we are flexible with nothing booked in France. So a day or two either way won't put us out too much. But we really were looking forward to going from Dublin rather than that long cross country haul to Rosslare.

Mind your health first and foremost. I reckon with the panic and pressure that Irish ferries are under if you postpone your trip for a few weeks, they would give you a big fistful of vouchers.
On the grapevine, I have heard from a commercial bus tour operator, that approximately 50% of passengers affected have been accommodated on the oscar wilde as of last night, but they are running out of cabins.
This operator thinks that Irish ferries will offer full refunds along with more vouchers to clear up this mess.
