Hi does anyone have an idea of how much vrt we would have to pay on a 15 reg citreon relay van if we converted it to a camper. Rang them today and got nowhere only that we would have to pay to re register it as a camper but very vague on what it is based on. Any enlightenment is appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying a campervan in the north for about 15000 sterling, anybody got a ball park figure for the VRT

Its very simple you will pay 13.5% of the eventual value of the converted van.

13.5% of the value plucked from thin air by the revenue. If you have examples of comparable vans for sale from dealers, it's your best benchmark and can form the basis of an appeal if revenue come up with crazy numbers.

It has nothing to do with what you pay, what they will ask you to pay is what they estimate the value of the Motorhomer is in the south,
If you want a ballpark figure you need to search for a van, on sale in the south with as near a speck as you can to the one you are looking at elsewhere ,then take that as your lowest figure ,
You can appeal their decision if you think it's too heigh,by proving a lower value from several Dealers ,BUT only after paying, what they charged you.

Sounds like this is a government that is willing to screw every last penny out of the individual who has worked hard to get a little extra to spend on their leisure time.
I suppose nothing new there for the working person.
