Ready to roll on Thursday for the Easter trip. The loose plan is....
Ardmore on Thursday night
Baltimore on Friday
Mizzen Head on Saturday
Thinking of turning back east for Sunday night to give a 2-21/2 hour run home on Monday so as I can unload etc and get ready for the week ahead.
Has anyone any suggestions for a decent stop over between mizen Head and wexford, about halfway, I’d appreciate any suggestions. Was hoping to get to sneem this trip but it may wait till another time I think

Cork is a big county to cover in a weekend. From Baltimore to Skibbereen and then to mizen head is nearer to 3 hours because the roads are not great. Plus it is a busy route with WAW tourists.
My suggestion would be head for Cobh on the first night then straight to Mizen head the next morning. After that every stop is nearer to Wexford .

Thanks for that lads. I did think of cobh but would rather avoid towns for a bit of peace. Was thinking more along the lines of beside a river or lake or a beach. Kinsale might have been an option only for the weekend that’s in it. Another Ardmore would be ideal 😂😂

I didn't like to suggest it for your return trip but yes I'd stay there , West Cork will be very congested over Easter , tourists and holiday homes being re opened

Another spot just off the N25 is The Workhouse, Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford.
Centre point on the Greenway between Waterford & Dungarvan. 1 km walk to the Village. Coffee Shop on site.
They have started taking Motorhomes for overnight stops.

You can try this spot on your way west, most recommended, specially if you like to walk/hike around the spot:

https://www.topoftherock.ie/

Don't forget to stop and look around the coast line either, Inchydoney, Garrestown, etc.. lovely spots.

Well, we are here in Dungarvan now. Passed top of the rock, thought about Ardmore again... but weather being poor today, we opted for a town for some restaurants etc. 11 campers here in this side, another 6 or 7 on far side. A couple just after leaving too. A few too many maybe, but loads of space, and all very tidy and parked out of the way. My first time here. Hope it doesn’t go like Howth, as it is very convenient for pubs and restaurants.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mizen Head was spectacular yesterday with great weather. Last car left before 8 pm. Never saw a another soul until 9:50 this morning. Peaceful

I am soo glad that ye all had a good weekend. Our turbo fecked up 2 weeks ago due to engine failure some time ago. Long story short, the turbo was repaired and thrown into a couriers van on Thursday but with no deliverys on Friday we were left high and dry. In fairness my mechanic found the van but not the driver, who had gone drinking on Good Friday.
Hopefully next weekend we will be out.

That’s tough. Oh well many weeks ahead. The season is only starting. But yeah a right weekend, and to cap it all as I drove into Dungarvan this afternoon there was a couple pulling out, and the lady waving frantically and smiling. I stopped, curious, that’s our old van. Had a right chat... turns out that hey changed to get a tight hand drive so she would drive it. Really nice people. Small world

Now administrators. A review for Dungarvan.
Spoke to the owner of Merrys bar and restaurant. I would say one of the closest to where the campers park, west of the river, the bus park, for want of an exact address. We ate there today, had a few drinks tonight.
Got talking to the owner later this evening, without letting them know we were in a camper.
Asked them about all the campers down the road...,,
Wait for it.....
They are great, part of our customer base. The more the merrier. The council happy to have them, as are the traders. A bonus to the town.
Asked why it wasn’t official if so beneficial, ah well the cousins have to have something there, in case there’s trouble, so we are covered legally.
Try the Fischer’s beer, they bring it in from Germany, lovely.
Oh and in the name of research I tried a couple of Carlsberg...Top notch,as good as I ever tasted. Might even be enough to drag Ally this far south.
So there you go, no bother in Dungarvan straight from the horses mouth. As long as we ate willing to spend a few quid I. The local business’ They are happy to have us

We stayed on in Ardmore, wondering why so many left, obviously knew forecast.
We hadnt updated the software for TV, not seeing any weather alerts.
From lunchtime Easter Sunday it rained, very windy and lashing rain last night, like being on a boat.
Yesterday Dick made sure anyone staying moved to hardstanding, field very soggy today.

I wouldn't be too concerned about not getting weather report's. You were better off not knowing ,you could have been doing your head in and hard put to get somewhere dry and out of the wind, in the sunny south east :sun: , in the last 24hrs , unless you got an indoor pitch somewhere.
Nice to hear Dick's looking out for his guests .

He loves a chat alright, I think we spent well over an hour when we met him, sound lad :)

Between the wifey getting a cold and the weather, we didn't brave it... was looking forward to the next one but it seems like it's going to be shite again :(

For us is a bit more complicated due to our pups, they're not fans of chilling inside the van the whole day specially when they get all wet and muddy everytime they go for a leak...

We're almost over the crest with the damn weather!! :P
