October 31st House insurance due, and both car and MH due in first two weeks in November so time spent on comparison sites but first House Insurance.
I switch a couple of years ago to Direct Line as cover good and their Home plus has good cover sorry if they don't do down South.
Anyway when I did the comparison site could save about £30 and DL wouldn't match. The weather here is to say the least is crap so thought I would muck about and go on Direct Line site and put Maureen as policy holder and me as second (Opposite to what it was) and magic upon Magic exact same cover at best price saving nearly £40 on the premium.
So next year will look to do the same, not heard of this so thought would pass on, would be interesting to see if it would work with other insurers
Have told them I wont be renewing and have taken out in Maureen name.

Price isn't everything, especially for us motorhomers.
Always check the small print with regard to occupancy. House insurance policies always have a condition which limits the number of consecutive days a house can be left unoccupied before certain aspect of the cover drop off, there may also be a total figure for the policy year.

Given that as a community we do spend quite a number of days away from home and it may be unoccupied during those periods make sure a policy is chosen which will not result in compromised cover.

As usual they don't, but you may be asked to prove it wasn't empty. Think please provide copy of your current and last electric bill.
Prove that the house was checked out each week. this is a condition for second homes.
For a substantial claim, the assessor can call to neighbor's
