Ducato underfloor cab vents

Apologies, the photos aren't the best.

I heard a strange 'tapping' from
under the van this evening.
After a while faffing around underneath the passenger side, I found 2 vents with soft rubber 'one way' flaps.

A bit of googling tells me they are intended to vent the cab in a panel van with a bulkhead behind the seats, and therefore not needed on a conversion.

Anyone know different?

If not, I'll seal them up.

Those flaps are fitted in every vehicle. In cars they are located in the rear bumper. The idea of using them is that when driving the air pressure behind the vehicle is lower and the stale air is drawn out.
With a conversion, I would be inclined to fill the vent because your roof vents do the same job.

If I am correct I have read threads on other forums regarding draughts in the cab area. I believe there are push fit covers available to plug the gap. If I get the chance I will see if I can find the info.

Thanks both.

Davy, I'm just after finding that same information. Part number 1355707080. I'll just horse on some duct tape as an interim measure.

Another bit of info for anyone with a Comfortmatic Ducato.

Fiat fit a nice plastic cover to block the hole where where the clutch should be. The cover completely blocks the vent to the drivers footwell. I couldn't figure out how my hoofs were freezing but no complaints from the boss in the passenger side!
It takes a bit of graft to strip a few bits of trim, but eventually the cover comes away ok and the trim can be replaced.

What year ducato have you got. I bought 2 of the covers but I’m damned if I can find anywhere to put them on my 2004 ducato, originally Italian but can’t see that making any difference

Mine is 2016. Davy's link above has a good description how to find them -

This valve can be found on the passenger side of your motorhome. Follow an imaginary line down from the rear edge of your fuel filler flap to the bottom of the body. You will find the valve on the inner face of the Chassis at this point (size about 3" x 4"). You just pull the whole valve out from the Chassis and put the bung in, which is a 2 minute job.

That might explain it as I can’t see anything remotely like that on mine

Does this apply to the Fiat panel van chassis

Does it apply to the Fiat cab with Fiat coachbuilts chassis

Does it apply to the Fiat cab with ALKO coachbuilts chassis.

I’m not sure how far back it goes but it’s on all the chassis as it’s in the cab section. If you look underneath you will see them. ( above where the fuel filler is)
