You have probably seen that we are due to be hit with the remains of a hurricane tomorrow. Seemly this is the strongest storm since 1961 according to met eireann.
I had a quick tidy of the garden this evening and piled a heap of stuff into the shed.
Afterwards I decided to refill the MH with water and plug in the EHU. Maybe I am over planning but I feel that the biggest risk over the next few days will be the lost of electricity.
After all we can live for a few nights in the MH without hookup.
Has anyone else done the same preparation?

Lads, I reckon solar panels have to be the best investment ever for a Motorhome. The batteries are always charged. As I have stated on previous posts, I have mine over a year now and have never needed to plug it in to charge batteries
Why manufacturers don't fit them as standard beggars belief

We haven’t picked up Mh since serviced other day would prefer if outside house as more sheltered.
Also it is amazing what is stocked in MH when you run out of it in the house

I did the same. Anything not tied down outside got put in the shed.

I serviced our oul generator and picked up a couple of jerrycans of petrol just in case we get an extended power cut. When we built the house, I got the electrician to wire in a changeover switch for a generator so we can run the house on 4kv if we limit our use. Best €100 I ever spent when it comes to times like these.

Lets hope it's not as bad as they're speculating...

Same as that Kevin as we are prone to power cuts,
I found that her self had difficulty starting the genny if i wasnt home
So i invested in a key start 8kva diesel,
I piped the exhaust through the wall of the shed so it stays in out of the weather whilst doing its job,

5 gallon drum of green diesel sits beside it, and the change over switch is very handy,

Nice set up!

I keep promising myself that I'll upgrade but never get around to it!

We live in an estate with about 50 houses. I would said that we have the only gas hob around if the power goes down. Could be a few neighbours in the MH tomorrow night for a cuppa of tea.
Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Prepared as best we can.
MH in workshop and all loose items secured best we can.

Stay safe folks, hopefully it passes as safely as possible.

Batteries are both at 100% (Solar). Almost a full tank of gas. All schools in NI are closed.. so not going anywhere tomorrow. Hoping this will pass quickly without disruption. If there is a power cut, will probably jump ship to the MH for cooking, heating and TV.

We are in Norn Iron, just received emails and texts to say all primary and secondary schools are closed tomorrow due to the expected weather.

That's a first for me..... why the hell they didn't do it 35 years ago when I was a kid is another question.

But on a serious note, I never considered getting inside my Motorhome in a power outage.

If it happens here, I will be inviting all my local family round. Instead of being a disaster zone, we could turn it into a family hoolie!

Sitting at home here, nearly bored out of my head. Have a quick look at the webcam at hook lighthouse and there is one camper parked up at the moment. Now there is a brave soul, or maybe not

Well... I'm in the south, so we're definitely seeing some action, but not too crazy for now (fingers crossed).

I did service the van just in case and moved her up to a more secluded/secure spot.

Tidy up all around, everything inside the shed, etc... but I seem to be the only one giving two fxxks about it. Next door neighbor has a trailer full of shite in the front door which he didn't even bother to cover it up.

Oh well... we'll see how it goes I guess.

Went out at8.30am to pick up MH beyond Bray from mechanic, low mist, dead calm, eerie. Nearly 11am now and can see and hear the wind in the trees.

At a friends house in Co Tipp. MH tucked in behind his house.
He just had the meat in the oven when the power went.
MH oven and hob going flat out since! Glad I had the refillable LPG fitted before this trip!
