Saw this this morning in today's Wicklow Times.

We're "unhealthy and unsightly" according to Cllr Mitchell.

Disappointing, but perhaps worth penning a letter in response and sending to both the council lie and paper?

At least he's not proposing a total ban. I have used Greystones (for one night) in favour of Howth when on my way to the Dublin ferry so hope it gets sorted ,but is it a case of the masses descending and ruining it for everyone again. :(

From the responses to a post on his Facebook page (01/08) it would appear that it's one traveller family in a caravan have been camped up there for several months, so he appears to be confusing Motorhomes and caravans and tourists parking and travellers setting up home.

I agree with the previous poster- letter/email to both the counsellor and the council would be the best response. I'm going to do that now.

Totally agree Robert...he's not proposing a total ban. I would be happy to be able to stay for one night rather than none.

If the good Councillor took his finger out of his rear end and had a good look at what is parked at the seafront, he would know that the van/ vans he is referring to is not a Motorhomer.
Also if he did not allow the council to sell out the La Touch road car park to An Post, there would be somewhere for Motorhome visitors/ tourists to go that would be covered by bylaws .
The problem is none of them, have the B===S to take on the illegal long term parking issue.

The same thing happened here in Salthill, but the travelers that were parked along the prom also had motor homes. So we are all tared with the one brush, and while the travelers are using motor homes the general public will think the same.

Is it maybe a case of him and others needing some education, also there are not many Aires where you can only stay one night.
Ok putting a time limit of say three nights max has its merits and would enable the country cousins to be moved on,but someone needs to make contact and put the real Motorhomers case to him and his colleagues.

Some change from this topic in 2012 : forum/topic.php?t=1292

Which prompted an article in the paper at the time. Unfortunately that article is now gone but I think I have a copy of it somewhere I'll try and find.

Three things spring to my mind on reading this post.
No 1, Wicklow is the county that I was reared in.
No 2, The Wicklow Times is a "free" paper distributed to advertisers, it is available to read in the local chippers, pub, hair salon etc.
No 3, The named councillor is only proposing to limit parking in Greystones to one night parking for MH.
Does anyone want to stay more than one night regularly in Greystones, when you exclude the Bray airshow?
