Drive away awning for Renault Master

I'm new to Motorhomes, but have been camping and caravaning all my life. Just bought a conversion based on a lwb Renault Master. I would love to use a drive away awning, but don't know how it can be done. Any and all advice welcome. Makes and models of awning, how to attach without channels, where to purchase? This may be the first of many requests for help. Glad I found this forum.

Hello and welcome!

I would thoroughly recommend these driveaway awnings> https://www.khyam.co.uk/drivea…awning-p21

The quick erect system is fantastic, less than 10 minutes to have it all up.

With regards to fitting, there are a few options. Personally, I bought the c section and attached it to the van.

With the above awning, beware of size. Make sure it will go over your side door ;)

You can get a 'C' section rail at most caravan dealers and a driveaway will slide into this, another option is that some driveaways have straps which you simply throw over the van and anchor at the other side. I have an Outdoor Revolution Movelite which allows for this, great awning easily erected. I have found that any sort of strong breeze can make getting the awning into a rail a bit of a hassle if you are trying to do it on your own.

Thanks for the advice. I'm measuring 240cm height so don't think the Movelite would fit. Think an email to Outdoor Revolution might help. Any good dealers in Antrim/ North to go to for advice?

Check out the vango airbeam hub. It is an air beam tent like a gazebo. We use one which we pitch about 6 to 7 feet from the camper and if it rains we just roll out our fiamma awning to cover the distance.
Personally I don't like the drive away awnings that you attached to the van because I am the fool getting wet doing it and also if you drive away and return, it's a pain to park in the same position again. Also during a windy night the straps holding the awning to the van flap in the wind.
The best advice is to book into a big campsite and wander around and see what other people use.

Details of the one I have from

It slides onto a rail that I riveted to the drip rail of my ELW Sprinter
Where are you based you can come and look at the arrangement.

Thanks, Sprinter. I'm in Co Antrim. Bit far to nip over for a look much as I'd like to. Sure I'd learn a lot.
