Hi Guys
The misses ,the wee dug and I are heading over in a couple of weeks and I would appreciate if anyone has any information about fishing ,mainly Salmon but Brown Trout would also do me fine ( both on the fly) ,as yet we have no idea what area we are heading but are open to suggestions,as was said earlier Salmon or Brown Trout fishing sort of near a beach to keep the wife happy, handy shops would be good as well.
Thanks .
Alan.

Hi Alan,
I'm over in Donegal and quite good fishing here.
Should be able to get you a permit for the River Finn and a good salmon run this year, but it's catch and release here.
Brown trout runs are good on the smaller river Deele, but mostly on spinner/lure as fly fishing problematic with trees..... but there is stretches that I've fished on the fly.
See the following:
River Finn Fishing
Glenmore Fishing

There is good fishing on the river Mourne in Co.Tyrone too, not sure about costs but can find out for you.
None of those 'close' to a beach, I'm about 40 minutes from nearest beach.
I'm sure you'll get other suggestions too.

Enjoy your stay

Many thanks for you'r quick response.
Catch and release is perfect for me I put everything back as we don't eat them.
I will keep your suggestions in mind and have a look nearer the time, as i said we don't even know what area we are heading
for, but the Mourne or the Finn look good.
do I need a rod licence as well as a permit?
Thanks again
Tight Lines.
Alan

Yes, Rod licence from the loughs agency & Foyle fisheries.. see Loughs Agency website
Permits available from local clubs... depending on the stretch you want... but a bad stretch is expensive at any price !

This may also help

Free salmon fishing at Sneem if staying overnight. Excellent location.
