I sure someone will figure out as to how to fit a solar panel. " sorry love, the bike went flat outside the pub, but luckily proping it on the south gable end wall for a few (hours) recharged it!!!!!!!

Interesting that they call it Mx5. You would assume Mazda had that wrapped up. It is an interesting piece of kit but surely the laws were changed (UK at least) so that some pedal input was required to stop e bikes being treated as mopeds with the tax, licence and insurance implications.

If there are no pedals it must be self propelled, in that case is it liable for tax and insurance?

Have to agree with Chausson. If it is not human powered it is a mechanically propelled vehicle (in my humble opinion) and requires a driving license, road tax, insurance, a helmet. probably a bit of VRT thrown in the mix and more than likely needs to conform to some ridiculous standards.

Would also have to agree that without pedals they have to be liable for road tax

helloo

We have e bikes made by Wisper I would recommend as they are a pedal cycle as well as having the batter power. They have made a great difference to us and if the battery goes flat well you can always peddle. We have them since 2012 and are still going strong. We did 600 km on them last year so I would say better than the Airbike as they can go much further than the 25 km of the airbike. They also keep you fit if you like!!! or lazy !! Lazy does not go as far though as the more battery power you use the less distance you travel if you know what I mean. When new they go 100 km on a full charge. We have never tested this

Hey jack, heard that Ally done some testing on electric bikes at the Athlone craic meet over the weekend . Maybe with time he will post some of his opinions on which bike was the best.
