Gas Fridge

This might seem like a really really stupid question.
The fridge in our camper has three icons, 12v, 220v and what i assume is gas. (a dail with different size flames), and an igniter.
I have been using it on 12v, running i presume off the leisure battery.
If i am using it off gas, how do i know the igniter has worked? Its clicking, but I dont know if its working.

Normally the 12v only operates when the engine is running.

The dial with different size flames is the temp control - bigger flame = lower temp. Often there is no temp control on 220v.

To check if the fridge is operating on gas, after it has been off for say 24 hours and then been running on gas for say 30 mins, feel the air temperature coming out of the top fridge vent on the outside

The air should feel warm indicating that the flame is ignited.

Alternately if you can access the bottom fridge vent outside, remove it and listen carefully to the burner. You should be able to hear the faint 'buzz' of the burner operating.

Normally a sight glass in bottom of fridge compartment that you can view the flame through when it's lit.

Don't know if this is the same on every one but ours has an amber light beside the igniter that flashes if the gas hasn't lit. Normally we turn dial to gas, the light starts flashing, we hold in the igniter until the light stops flashing.

On some of the older fridges once you light the gas you have to hold the the control in for up to 20 seconds to make sure it stays lit

In our old van, we had to push and hold in the dial to light and when lit properly, the clicking stops.

Ok, so I tried on Saturday. Turned on the gas, pushed in the dial and flicked the igniter switch. This was flashing while clicking like mad, then I heard what sounded like the gas igniting(bit like woosh) and the igniter stopped clicking. Seemed to work alright, but I couldnt stay around long enough to be sure. Will have the camper at the house in the next couple of days so will know more then.
CAN I JUST CHECK SOMETHING.
When the engine is running, its running the fridge, if I have the 12v switch on, is that right?

A quick check. Somewhere in you van probably near the gas locker there should be a number of c**k stops (gate valves) where the gas line spilt up. There should be one on each pipe going to each individual appliances, water heater, cooker, fridge, room heater, etc. Check that they are all fully opened as one may have partially closed.
DO NOT PUT A SPANNER, VICE GRIP OR A WRENCH NEAR A GAS PIPE OR VALVE.
Hire in a pro for the job.

there are three under the sink, clearly marked with icons. they all seem to be fully open and working. there is also one in the wardrobe, i take it this is probably the master switch off or probably the boiler.
I havent run the boiler yet, but might do it before the meet to see how it performs.
